Re: Yanmar 75hp and 100hp exhaust elbow

Thanks for the replies guys - I'm going to weld my leaking one as a spare and try one of the e-bay ones. I had the first one that cracked welded as a spare and it got me home to Marathon from Bimini the other day after the second one started leaking.

Re: Yanmar 75hp and 100hp exhaust elbow

Does anyone have any history with the e-bay replacement Exhaust Elbows? I just had my second one fail on the same engine - probably about 500 hrs on it since it was replaced with a new Yanmar part. Seems like trying the e-bay substitute (now $285 including freight) is a no brainer. Just checked the ...

Re: Documentation Certificates

Mine expires 3/31 - I received the renewal paper about two weeks ago and immediately e-mailed it back signed. I received the paper certificate in the mail about a week ago.

Re: Opening forward hatch all the way for more air

Doug, I know it's a bit late - I havn't checked the forum in quite a while. I came up with a very good solution for opening the front window to almost horizontal with a couple of West Marine adjustable hatch supports. No significant mods are required and it can easily be returned to factory stock se...

Re: ANCHOR LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT

Thanks so much for the help. It looks like the Aqua Signal Festoon from Marine Beam is the correct bulb for my fixture. Sorry for the delayed response - we've been away without internet for a week.
Thanks,

Re: Yanmar Service

I totally agree - Luis at Marathon Diesel is knowledgable, honest and fair - a great asset for Yanmar owners in Marathon.

ANCHOR LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT

Has anyone replaced their anchor light bulb with an LED? My boats an '04 and I'm not sure the fixture is the same in other years. I took my bulb out and it's about 1 3/4 inches long and looks like a "festoon" bulb but the ends are concave rather than the convex ends on the standard festoon...

Re: Exhaust Elbow Spacer

Thanks Ron and John. I'm going to take mine to the local weld shop and the local Yanmar dealer tomorrow and get their opinion on how to proceed. I 'm not excited about putting out $500 to put a new one in. Where are you guys in the Bahamas? We usually spend May and June over there - last two years i...

Re: fluxgate compass

The heading on my autopilot has always been way off from my actual course - currently about 90 degrees off. I've got an 04 MV34 with the flux gate compass in the starboard salon seat. I'm not aware of anything close that would interfere with its operation. I tried the Raymarine technique of driving ...

Re: Powercats in the Keys

Dave,

Don't know if you're still interested, but we just brought our MV 34 back to our home in Marathon. We'd be happy to share our knowledge and experience with another potential keys PDQ owner. We love our boat and would be happy to show you around it.

Re: Exhaust Elbow Spacer

Ron, I just removed a leaking exhaust elbow from my port 100HP engine. It was spraying salt water all over from the weld that connects the exhaust pipe to the water jacket. Two of the three studs that were holding it to the turbo charger were so rusted that they broke off flush when I tried to remov...
