Bill and Fran. The stripped thread problem
Is one of the reasons to reverse
The machine screw so the vulnerable
Bronze thread no longer takes the load.
Sounds like you are ok for now anyhow.

MV34 Improvements
This is a catchup on projects which we have completed recently which some might want to consider. We upgraded our electronics to Simrad driven primarily by the exceptional BR24 radar - which we are using now in the Maine fog where you cannot miss a buoy. We kept the original Raymarine autopilot whic...

Re: Grandchildren on board
No replies so thought to update that we bought a small tent - 6 ft x 5 ft floor - for the 5 grandchildren [ages 1,2,3,4,5] and 'pitched' it down below on the dropped table [hull 32 with the larger space] and the kids love it. We keep them entertained with dvd's while we entertain and dine with the p...

Re: Prop zinc sleeves/screws - update
Hello, After a long absence but still enjoying our MV greatly. By now I assume most everyone has done the 'reverse machine screw fix' to stop losing prop zincs - it certainly is a good change. There are however always new lessons to learn - sometimes the hardway. I managed to rip off a zinc and the ...

Grandchildren on board
Well, we are up to 5 now and they are excited
about being part of the pdq adventure.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to
have fun - with damage control?
We thought about pitching a tent on the
foredeck or turning the salon table
area into a corral.

Re: Single Handing?
Re prep maybe some specifics warranted leave bunks flipped for clear view of engines and bilges have a Doppler radar on a screen. Smartphone works well best to have fuel vacuum guages [eg Murphy alarm guages] and water in fuelindicators at helm for early warning. Since one tank for both engines you ...

Re: New mv34 projects
A few I forgot added fresh water flush for yanmars. Note that boatyard water pressure often unregulated so always leave thru hull valve open when attaching hose or risk forcing water where not wanted. Stapled heavy 24" alum foil over engine insulation to prevent crumbling. Bought 3" 3M whi...

Re: European Offshore Capabilities?
The one great risk is all that wonderful glass. You could install strong lexan storm windows over the glass but that would add weight which is generally a nono up that high. The real question may be the reliability of the weather forecasting for the longer legs. IMHO the forecasts in many places are...

Engine sound insulation
Our sound insulation was making a mess
falling apart so I special ordered 24 inch
wide commercial kitchen alum foil and
ss stapled it all around doubled up over the
old stuff. By far the most cost effective
fix.

Re: Changed Shaft Seals, AGAIN
I just went to red tideseal after leaking
blues and then a stbd side perforation requiring
a lot of tape around the blue tube - real fast.
Fortunately we were close to our destination
got hauled next morning.

I single hand regularly. From the lower helm
you are always fine. You only need to know

I suggest calling ahead to the Osprey Marina
in Myrtle Beach SC - the best we found on entire
icw. Ask them to line up an ABS qualified marine
electrics guy to meet on yor schedule.
