Re: Installing power tilt motors
there is a way to do the manual tilt from lower down (same as with the Yamahas) would be less cumbersome. On another note....Is that a Lithium battery in you motor well?!

removing/replacing stantion bases
We started to remove the stantions to replace some and to rebed the bases. We have tried a lot of different things, but it seems that the SS bolts have become one with the Alum. bases. Has anyone found a solution (other than drilling)? Does anyone know of a source for replacement bases? It sits over...

Re: New Rudder Quadrant
We had ours made at https://edsonmarine.com/products/sailboat-steering-wheels/steering-hardware/quadrants-radial-drive-wheels/ Note: not 100% thrilled. they goofed the measurement by a small number and we had to cut the openings for the steering bar so that it could move the complete distance. the a...

update -Steering quadrant replacement?
Lewmar made the new one, but the angle of the attachment arm for the steer bar was a little off.
Works, but had to enlarge hole for steering bar.

Re: New engines - source? and market for the old ones?
Did same with Andy..NOTE....check if your remote handle assembly and motor being replaced uses a "pull" or "push" for the cable to change gear. Not a big change, but a royal pain if you are trying to figure out why the cable won't work and you don't know which the old motor used ...

Re: Which route to lower Caribbean for PDQ's
Had no issue getting insurance (2 companies). both allowed 300 miles from shore without rider (so northern route is no issue).

Re: Anchoring a Cat...Correctly
Our boat came with a bridle that has a very nice stainless steel chain hook. (centered on eye spices and a ring)
Just hook the chain link between the prongs and tension does the rest. Very quick to set and take off in emergency.

Older fridge door gasket / sealing / insulation
wow..the crickets are deafening..... ANYONE? we have the same fridge (1990) and it looks like the last time, the owner used the kind of foam gasket sealant that is used along the top of a truck bed to secure/waterproof a camper shell. It is sticky backed and they placed it along the lid (about an in...

rear steps ( 34' no extensions) leaking?
We have been trying to resolve the water intrusion in the rear compartments. We have two possibles left....the inspection ports themselves could be leaking (but then the water should fill above the outside water line) OR The seal around the back step/ladder panel must be leaking. (but then why are w...
