Re: Dingy motor hoist

i agree with thinwater. we've carried our 10'6" west rib w/15 hp 2 stroke on davits for 13 years . we've crossed the gulfstream 26 times. if you TOTALLY immobilize the dinghy once it's up the davits are more than up to the load.

Re: stuffing box lock nut

i think my steps mentioned above still apply. you need to get 2 substantial wrenches which allow enough throw. soak the nuts with pb blaster and tap with a hammer periodically.

on another note, what hull number do you have?

Re: stuffing box lock nut

hi, are you asking about the propeller shaft or rudder shaft? is it leaking? if so, you want to adjust. if it's the rudder, you'll need 2 wrenches and be able to slide back in there (at least on the port side). as i recall the lock nut is on the bottom, so hold the top nut and try and turn the botto...

Re: Diesel Electric Hybrid power

a few years back i had lengthy discussions about this with dick vermullen (maine cat) when he was designing the prototype powercat. his plan was just as described, a constantly running generator powering 2 electric motors. after a couple of years of changes he gave up and went with diesels. he found...

Re: A/C Units humidity control

hi,

i believe the temp sensor is located in the wall control, at least it is on the marine air unit i'm looking at. if cruise-air is different, not sure where it is.

hi,

one other observation: the genset and shorepower go thru different breakers. not sure how this figures in but it is one difference between what works and what doesn't.

Re: Propeller size for the 100 hp engines.

i think duane's referring to cleaning the intake side turbo fan. i've done it on our 75s. on the 75s you remove the aircleaner and then get a small paint brush and a bowl of lacquer thinner or your favorite solvent. you use the brush to bathe the fan with solvent and eliminate any oil and dirt build...

Re: transmission oil cooler?

hi,

they are part# 3367np fig "C" in their catalog. the coolers are dc60. i used perkins power out of jacksonville, fl pete (prichmond@perkinspower.com). they were very good.

before you order, i would measure the ss tubing diameter just to be sure.
