Re: New MV 34 owners

heh welby, welcome aboard! first, we too have 3 blade 75's and like you when we got our boat it was way over-propped. i dug thru my records and they are now 16x14. we've had them like that for 18 years (4000 hrs). we run at 3350 rpms and that gives us 13.5 knots. as far as 4 blades vs 3. if you sear...

Re: Bahamas Tel Cell Phone Service

we used mrsimcard years ago. the advantage you get from him is that your phone is working the minute you get near a tower without going in to get a simcard. we are out of date on the current cellphone market.

Bowmar hatch gasket?

hi all,

we've developed a leak on one of our rear vertical hatches. as best i can tell the water is running down the vertical hull, over the hatch flange and then i believe getting between the gasket and the glass.

does anyone know what secures the rubber gasket to the glass?

not sure it's definitive answer, but if you search the forum, i've seen a couple of threads on it(splash guards).

Re: Prop Zinc Wear

a suggestion. if you search this site you'll see a modification to the nut which significantly cuts down on the loosening problem. basically, install a screw from the inside of the nut and then use a nyloc nut to secure the zinc. otoh, if you don't have line cutters, you may want to consider switchi...

Re: Xantrex Pathmaker

actually thinking about it, i'm wrong on one point. the power source sense wire is a separate wire and does not connect to one of the studs. other than that what i said above will work.

Re: Xantrex Pathmaker

couple of things 1) i'm not a great designer and i'm sure there are more elegant designs than what follows and 2) the goal is to connect all batteries into one bank when a charge source is present AND more importantly to isolate all batteries if no charge source is present. unless blue seas has chan...

Re: Xantrex Pathmaker

hi, i don't have experience with this on our pdq but i did redesign the battery/charging layout on or mainship. at the time, 10 years ago, the biggest obstacle was that blue seas didn't offer a 3-bank combiner which i didn't need on the mainship. you could achieve that by "daisy chaining" ...

Re: Northern Lights Genset - Losing Coolant

probably want to do a pressure test on your coolant/"radiator" cap. if you're losing pressure then next i'd isolate the heat exchanger and pressure test it. i don't have a northern lights so i don't know physically how to do it. if the he is ok, then i'd do a cylinder compression test. you...

Re: Refrigerator Temp High

hi, we have a novacool side by side. you said you turned it down to 3, on ours colder = higher number. do you know how old the fridge is? has the outside temp gotten warmer? do you have the same food volume? i would watch and see if it stabilizes at 40 or gets worse. if it stabilizes but won't respo...
