Re: Replacement Mattresses
i'll add to this. we have a 2003. i assume that the bunks on all years are the same. my questions are: 1) how closely does this mattress match the length & width of the original? 2) on ours, the rear edge has a tapered thickness to match the curve of the hull. how does the new mattress conform? if y...

Re: Marine Head questions for PDQ 34
hi mike, i took a look at the doc on the jabsco kit. it is essentially the same parts as we have on the jabsco on our mainship. if that's the case, i've rebuilt the pump before. it has 2 impellers on either side of a ss plate. one impeller sucks the saltwater in and the other pushs the bowl contents...

Re: Restriction in Blackwater Line from Head
my friend said the big problem was getting old hose out. didn't talk much about the new one going in. i would recommend the raritan saniflex. it is very flexible. i have used it on 2 projects and been very happy. not sure if james is on forum regularly. try getting to him using forum's private messa...

Re: Restriction in Blackwater Line from Head
if muriatic acid is helping, i would keep trying it. it might make the hose more flexible and easier to get out. i have a friend who had this same problem on 2004 pdq. he ended up cutting the hose into pieces to get it out. it was packed with hardened buildup. james power is a former pdq tech guy wh...

Re: Restriction in Blackwater Line from Head
ok, i'll ask it differently. was the boat used for any length of time as a saltwater toilet. if the answer is yes, there's a pretty good chance that the combination of urine and salt water has reduced the hose inside cross section considerably. if this is the case, muriatic acid may help but you pro...

Re: Prop Sizes and performance! LRC diesels
when we got our first diesel, a westerbeke, i went to the 1 day, everything you need to know class. the first thing the instructor said was 9 diesels die by under-revving for everyone that die's by over-revving. if yanmar is saying 3600 that should be your target. also, i'm not sure what at idle tel...

Re: Prop Sizes and performance! LRC diesels
hi, you don't mention what the max rpms are for you engines. you should be able to get fairly close to the max rpms with the boat loaded as normal. with that said, if i had to guess i'd say you're probably over propped, aka too much pitch. you'll want to talk to a prop shop. they'll want to know wha...

Re: sliding screens
just completed this. it was every bit as difficult as the first time. the raised rail that the screen rides on is about 1/16" too high. this makes it necessary to jam the screen up into the adjacent slot in the top of the window frame. this is an extremely tight fit. even then getting the screen fra...

sliding screens
hi all, i'm in the process of re-screening the sliding side screens. i did this before about 10 years ago and it wasn't easy then either. anyone have any tips on how to get screen out (i have already removed the plastic u-shaped inserts) and just as importantly back in? i've noticed that there is no...

sanitation hose?
hi all, i have a question about the 1-1/2" sanitation hose going from the toilet to the holding tank. we have hull #23, OLD STYLE head, and a lavac vacuum toilet. i need to replace the waste hose. has anyone with an old style head replaced this hose? if so, can you descibe how you did it. i realize ...
