Re: Fuel leak

hi,

i believe dick tushick posted something that maybe relavant. try a search on this site.

the main point was that the fuel tank support material may have given way, allowing the tank to sit on the bottom of the compartment, and possibly corrode if any salt water got into the compartment.

Re: Dripper Guard

hi all,

i installed one on our 2003. the 2003 have the exhaust and water exit from same thruhull in the side of the boat. the dripper guard is less effective on this type of exhaust setup. i would say it has reduced the drip by 50%.

Re: Priming washdown pump

when you release the nozzle does the pump continue to run? if so, it could be an air leak downstream from the pump. the strainer seal ring would be a likely place but we had a pinhole develop in the hose to the strainer which had the same symptoms. if you have the same jabsco pump as we do it we eas...

Re: gps wiring?

on our boat seatalk failure at the lower autopilot always is a result of either: 1) no power to flybridge 2) a bad power feed to one of the flybridge instruments for some other reason.

Re: gps wiring?

hi, you don't mention the year of the boat. i can only talk to the older version of seatalk. i'd start by checking your seatalk connections on the bridge. on our boat we have a breaker for the flybridge power, check this is working. then check the seatalk connections on the back of the flybridge ins...

Re: gps wiring?

here is an update on my gps problem. after much testing it became apparent that the raymarine rs125 had failed. raymarine had discontinued this model years ago and its replacement is not compatable from a wiring perspective. so i decided to buy a nmea gps. it's a digital yachts gps150. duetto is a 2...

Re: Windlass and Anchor Chain

as a former sailor i agree with thinwater's concern about sheets catching on a horizontal windlass.

regardless of windlass type you need sufficient capacity to drop all of the chain or rode.

Re: Windlass and Anchor Chain

hi sam, first, i can't accurately comment on the wire since i just used what pdq put in the boat. we don't use freefall, since as thinwater says we don't anchor in deep water. we have a wired handheld control, again reuse of original. we also added a wireless remote but don't use because of the dela...

Re: Windlass and Anchor Chain

hi sam,

we're on a 34 powercat so this may or not apply. 3 years ago we replaced our oem windlass with a lewmar pro fish. we're entirely satisfied. it runs off the house bank. quick retrieval.

Re: gps wiring?

my wiring plan was to pull the old wire into the salon along with the new gps wire and do the connection there with terminal block. reality is there is 5200 at the base and an anti abrasion hose wire tied to the bundle. my question is does anyone have any idea how far up the wire bundle the wire tie...

Re: gps wiring?

hi all, turns out the gps sensor wire terminates in a raymarine white box located just below lower helm chartplotter. years ago we moved our charger/inverter there also and junction was hidden behind it. after much testing the wiring was intact and not the problem. directly wiring gps sensor to +/- ...
