Re: Jabsco deck fitting for washdown systems

the original quick disconnect has a reputation of being hard to connect/disconnect. this winter i did some experimenting with it. first, i shutoff pump and released pressure. then i took a dowel (somewhere around 3/8") and used it to push the blue plastic plunger , inside ss disconnect, down a coupl...

Re: Jabsco deck fitting for washdown systems

we had the saltwater washdown from factory in 2003. it was very hard to connect/disconnect fitting. we were at annapolis boatshow (2005 or 2006) and i happened to see the vendor and i complained, so he gave me a new one on the spot. he said that mfg had some problems but the new ones were fixed. i j...

Re: stuffing box lock nut

hi,

i think you have our friends bill & fran's boat. congratulations.

i'm pretty sure all the nuts are normal thread. i would lube the thread, loosen the locknut, and then tighten the packing nut, re-tighten the locknut.

Re: Spares

depending on impeller type, you'll want an impeller puller for rw pumps. don't forget generator impeller. maybe generator type specific but a spare capacitator. maybe a spare yanmar thermostat (depending on far out you're going). in general, think about which systems would make the boat uninhabitabl...

nick,

when you get back get a spare set of whatever valves are on the inlet and outlet of your pump.

good luck.

Re: Manual Black Water Pump

nick,

if it's not too big a deal, try hooking up pump to a bucket of water and see if it'll empty it. if it does, i'd be looking for a blockage or maybe a plugged vent hose. if it doesn't, start taking it apart.

where are you in bahamas?

Re: Manual Black Water Pump

hi nick, not sure if a vacuum would empty tank. can you tell if tank has stuff in it? also, not sure which pump you have. our overboard out of the tank went thru a jabsco electric macerator. that said, i'm familiar with 2 different diaphragm pumps (similar to a whale). both are round, where the diap...

Re: Hydraulic oil leak at Flybridge Helm

mac,

3 arm puller is needed to fit between 5 spoke wheel. i think the thing you care about is the thicknessof the jaw that goes between hub & the wheel. obviously needs to be thin enough to fit. other dimension is the radius of the arms to allow a straight pull outside of the wheel hull.

Re: Hydraulic oil leak at Flybridge Helm

mac,

that's the kit. actually i didn't do it (it fixed itself) but had it done earlier by yard. i was there and mechanic just put arm pulling and then i whacked the nut with lead hammer.

james power may want to weigh in on this.
