Re: Water supply
Remember to turn your water pump off when using dock water. Also, consider getting a pressure reduction valve to put on the dock water hose before attaching the hose to the boat. Dock water pressure can overpower the low pressure pipe connectors on the boat's plumbing. Even with the precautions ment...

Re: Tracy Boarding Stairs
Russ,
Thank you for all the great information. Given the free board on the PDQ34, it's surprising that this issue has not been solved long before now, as you have done!
Best,
Steve

Russ,
Did you decide to install the steps, and if so, are you happy with them?

Re: Oil Change Pump Recommendations
Another way to decrease the amount of oil spill when removing the filter is to loosen the filter very slightly (so that you can turn it by hand), tap a hole in the top of the filter with an awl or small sharp screwdriver, put a baggy around it, turn it so the hole is down, and let the oil drain from...

Re: whale plumbing fitting?
Hi John,
I have a soft plastic tube running from the water heater pressure relief valve to a plastic jug (that I have to empty too frequently) in order to keep the port bilge dry. Will your replacement of the pressure relief valve be an improvement or remedy to this problem?
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Anyone have icemaker on the flybridge?
Now I'm back to my (default) suspicion of the pressure sensor on the water pump. Haunted would be my second choice.

Re: Anyone have icemaker on the flybridge?
We have an icemaker on the flybridge that has always worked well. On the other hand, we've had water pump pressure sensor problems in the past. From your description it seems that your pump continually tries to push water to the icemaker, but the pump shuts off properly when the icemaker breaker is ...

Re: A/C Refridgerant Charging ?
Hi John, My aft A/C unit had been giving me problems, and I had eliminated all of the possible maintenance sources except for recharging the refrigerant. I had a local contractor in Annapolis look at it. The refrigerant pressure was low. Recharging the unit involved hoses and valves and gauges, and ...

Re: PropSpeed
Hi John, That is very good info. I have taken notes, as I usually do when I hear from you. Unfortunately, I will have to wait to use your method the next time, since I had to make a decision recently and went with the PropSpeed product. It will be worthwhile to make a comparison of how each product ...

John, With Directv, my boat's receiver is added on to my home account, just as if it were another receiver in a room in the house. I don't know of any way to inactivate the receiver during parts of the year. It is a $4.99 charge per month. If your home address allows you to receive national "ne...

I agree Mike. Just to be clear, and I should have noted this in my original post, I had/have a highest level membership of both BoatUS and SeaTow.

A cautionary tale of rookies and pirates
Since I’ve learned so much from this forum, I thought I would share a misadventure in the hope of sparing other PDQ owners from having to learn this lesson the hard way. I live in Charleston but I keep my PDQ34 in the Annapolis area. This past summer a friend of mine from Idaho was asked at the last...
