Re: Queen mattress

Several weeks have passed since my original posting and no one has voiced any interest in the old mattress so I guess it goes in the trash on Tuesday 12/26.

Exhaust system failure ALERT

Last March 2022 a failure of the bolts connecting the Turbo to the spacer and then to the Exhaust elbow was reported. Since then we know of two other engines that have suffered the same fate. In the latest case a significant amount of exhaust was leaked into the engine compartment and caused quite a...

Re: Solar question Sage advise needed

Good morning, I concur with all Duetto has mentioned....except the life of the batteries....If we are lucky we get 4 years out of the house bank and only three years out of the eng. start batteries. Last year we tried a different brand for the house (interstate) and they lasted 2 years...never again...

Re: Fuel transfer pump

The pick up tubes in the forward tank were cut at a depth to prevent more than about 50 of the 70 gal to be transferred aft. The practicality of the information however is questionable as we all know our fuel gages are not very accurate. My rule of thumb is that I never take the forward tank down to...

Re: High Water Bilge Alarm

A comment to owners….high water bilge alarms are easy to install, not expensive and a very practical insurance to avoid a major problem. I know of several real experiences where a high water alarm could have saved the owner thousands…not to mention the headaches.

Re: Nova Kool Refrigerator

This is an important and troublesome issue on our boats as they grow older and I thought it might be helpful to summarize all the lessons learned with the Nova Kool units. First and foremost they are good and reliable units but there have been many issues, most related to installation. Many hulls ha...

Re: BougeRV Portable Freezer

We were one of the first PDQ’s to get the Bourgerv and have used it extensively over the last year. Our first unit stoped working after about 5 hours and upon notifying the company we had a new unit in hand three days later….outstanding service. Since then the unit has been absolutely 100%. Low amp ...

Yanmar starter relay

As our engines grow older the starter relay is failing on many engines. It is a simple and not very expensive ($179 to $350 depending on where you shop) part that you should have on board as a spare. Replacing it is not easy due to its difficult to access location just under the starter motor. Many ...

Re: 2022 PDQ MV34 Flotilla - "Flock to the Block"

Happy to report that the flotilla made it to Block Island safe and sound with no problems other than weather delays. Taryn Away, Easy Riders, Clementine and Heron celebrated the arrival with a great dinner at Deadeye Dick’s overlooking our boats in the harbor.
