Re: Yamaha 9.9 corrosion
I might add from your photo, that the zinc anodes mounted under the engine cavitation plate are completely gone. An indication that there is strong electrolysis taking place probably from, as mentioned, stray current. You can check for stray current by placing the leads from a voltmeter in the water...

Re: For Sale 2002 PDQ 36 Wind Seeker
Quit possibly true. However, the PDQ 36 was never design for the charter business as the two comparables were. They were designed for the owners and have accommodations suitable for a cruising family. Wind Seeker is not an exhausted boat cycled through a charter fleet. Thanks for your comments. Ray

Engiine Flush Out Hose Adapter Extension
Relocating the engine flush out hose adapter will make it easier to use them to flush the engines. Remove the hose adapter mounts from the engine housing and attach them at accessible locations in the engine wells. Extended the flush out hose from the engine to the hose adapter location.

Re: Winding-up the motor hoist rope in the prop
We have done the very same thing on one engine and broke the cavitation plate too. The new engines are getting mechanical locks put in place. I'll post my postive solution when they are in place and tested. Ray

Re: Installing new engines and engine steering lock- tips?
Hello Doug, We have a 2002 PDQ 36 and it came with attachment points on the hard top Bimini supports clearly there for lifting engines. I have attached a photo of our engine replacement process. You may wish to install a stainless eye bolt in one of the support legs. A simple plumb bob line made fro...

Re: cold weather & prop questions
We installed Yamaha T9.9 XEHB models on Wind Seeker in 2014. We like them. They have better features, are lighter and take up less space. However, I agree with you and we are not getting the performance we did with the older model Yamaha 9.9s. They are broken in with over 300 hours on them. I kept t...

Re: US Marine ultimate tank gauge
We replaced our Snake River monitoring system a few years back with a See Level externally mounted sending units and monitor for our holding tank and fresh water tank. All internal sending units are problematic. Easy installation and It works accurately. Always thinking outside the box. See link bel...

Bifold Doors save Cabin Space
Rob's article on replacing the head reminded me of something we did on PDQ 36 Wind Seeker to save space. It had two doors that swung out into the interior of the main cabin and had to be closed to access cabinets behind them. I made those full size doors into bifold doors and swung them into each re...

Inexpensive Clam Shell Vent Covers
Our 36 lost a couple of clam shell vent covers. I replaced them with ones fashioned from PVC pipe. I discovered how to make them accidentally while making some garden stakes. I cleaned them with Acetone and attached them with 5200. They are still in place after many rough passages. Ray
