Re: Diesel Leaking from Fuel Vent

Thanks for the reply. That was my first thought as well but this happen over the winter in the Northeast, tough to envision it getting that hot. Maybe I am underestimating the heating effect of shrink wrapping...

Diesel Leaking from Fuel Vent

Apparently over the winter diesel fuel has been leaking from what I believe is the fuel vent (located roughly center of cockpit). Not just a few drops either, a very noticeable spill. I've always been careful to add a biocide keep the tank full over the winter to minimize water accumulation. I've ne...

Polling Question - Mooring Swing

I'd like to get a broader perspective on the issue of whether or not this forum agrees with what appears to be a general consensus (at least at my yacht club) that catamarans and tri-hulls tend to swing best with each other and power boats when on a mooring, since they react to similarly to wind/cur...

Re: Transiting with mast down?

See photo - removing the mast is a terrible thing to do to a sailboat but the trip is a wonderful experience be sure to check the erie canal web site on a regular basis the locks have a tendency to go out of service from time to time! Maintenance funding is not what it could be! We dropped the mast ...

Re: Shrink wrap vs Custom Tarp

To wrap or not to wrap...an ageless question! In my case I've defaulted to shrink wrapping her as a preferred if not more costly solution (in my yard we are held hostage to the tune of $1200 to shrink wrap with the mast up). My primary concern with Boston winters is the snow load and the detrimental...

Diesel Exhaust Stains

Looking for ideas. Does anyone know of any particularly effective diesel exhaust stain remover? I've tried a number of approaches to removing exhaust stains from the hulls and none has been totally effective. Thanks!

Proper way to purge air

In spite of best efforts to purge air from the fresh water system by simply running water through it for several minutes I cannot seem to purge air from the lines - the constant "spitting" from the fawcets is getting a tad annoying. Is there a proper way to purge air? Has anyone else encou...

Jeff,
Can you provide the specifics (model, manufacturer, distributor) on both the solenoid and the tanks? I very much agree with your observations!
