Photos showing my set up. The top line lifts the motor. The steel cable holds it down when reversing.
I don't know why my photos are not upright....

Re: Powered Engine Tilt System
I did a modified set up of the Yamaha power tilts where I relocated the tilt cylinder up ahead of the engine. I did this to get away from having the tilt cylinder set up contacting the water. Switches near the helm control the position. I posted some photos in the discussion re new engines.

Re: Installing power tilt motors
It has been some time since your post but if you have not already gone ahead I can offer some info based on my experience on my PDQ 32. I originally installed the power tilt engines as built however I was not happy with the units contacting the water so I designed an arrangement with the tilt cylind...

Re: Re-Power a 32 with new outboards
I have now modified my power tilts to relocate the cylinders up in front of the engines. A 1/4 inch three part line is used to pull the engine up. A 3/16 wire rope runs from the cylinder top pin location down through the transom and to the lower end of the cylinder to hold the engine down when in re...

Re: Re-Power a 32 with new outboards
I installed a pair of the new engines with power tilt. Since the engines are a bit smaller I was able to raise the mount two inches using fiberglass over a piece of wood. With the 2 inch raised mount the tilt elemnts clear the water at rest but they still kiss the waves when underway. I was not happ...

Re: Tides Marine sail track
I installed the Tides Marine track a few years ago when I bought a new radial mainsail. The new sail was heavier than the original so it was hard to compare the ease of raising but I do think the Tides system works better than the original. It was easy to install as it slides into the existing mast ...

Re: Replacing original solar panels
I am planning to replace my panels in the spring. I have found that I can get a reasonable fit using three 100 watt panels with the center panel mounted at right angles to the ones on either side. I will cut the starboard mounting strips to allow the center right angle mount. The configuration will ...

Re: New Yamaha 9.9 vs old noise level
I tend to motor with engine at 3600 rpm. Is there a noticable difference at this point?

New Yamaha 9.9 vs old noise level
The Yamaha web site seems to suggest that the new model 9.9 has improvements that affect the noise level. Did those of you who have installed the newer engines notice a difference?

Re: 1997 PDQ 32 Altair LRC
I know David Love as I took him for a sail on my 32 before he had chance to sail on his own. I have had contact with him several times since - he came by last fall to get some measurements for making a winter cover for his boat which was not in the area at the time. He seems to be the type that woul...

Re: Best place for an anchor light
I have a nice little LED unit with a photo eye that turns it on and off. It plugs into the 12 v outlet at the helm. I pull my main halyard back away from the mast with a line that attached half way back on my lazy jacks so it does not slap at night. With the halyard pulled back over the boom it prov...

I added 1 inch thick sound deadener to the access lid on my 32 but it did not make any significant difference.

Re: Solar panels on hard top PDQ 32
I added a 150 watt panel over the davits. It is an easy addition and gives a big boost to charging.
