Re: Davit failures
I can't comment on the early PDQ davit weaknesses, but I know that making sure the load (the dinghy) is securely strapped and cross-tied to minimize any dynamic loading is critical. Dynamic loads can be over twice the static load.

Re: E120 Backlight - Time to Upgrade
That is tempting, lgeller, but from NY to FL and back will probably cost a fortune in expedited shipping, and we will be in Canada in about 10 days or so. Since we have one unit working fine, I will take the chance that the upper unit will hold out until we get back to the USA or return home to FL. ...

Re: E120 Backlight - Time to Upgrade
Finally some time to research it, I see an expert electronics repair shop has detailed the problem as the FETs that produce the high voltage needed to power the cold cathode fluorescent bulbs that form the backlight. If one fails and the voltage drops, the backlight will stay dim. If both fail then ...

Re: E120 Backlight - Time to Upgrade
Very timely post. I just found the backlight on my flybridge E120 is also way too dim and I have not had time to figure out what the repair is. From what you post, it is not good news for me, either.
Sorry I cannot answer your question. Good luck.

Re: Modern anchor fit on MV34 roller?
I have no idea if there were any changes to the bow roller along the way, but I suggest that you add a signature to show your boat year, engine HP, etc. We have a 2006 model that came with a 55 lb Rocna. I believe in oversizing anchors, but even I would not have gone quite that big. That said, I LOV...

Re: RIB that fits 34mv
Our Achilles RIB is 9 ft 2 in and with the motor takes up almost 10 feet of length. It does not fit especially well between the hulls and requires me to lift one end (the bow) first and wiggle the boat until it is above the hulls. It is not a big deal, but the RIB that came with the boat was 6 inche...

Re: RIB that fits 34mv
My sig has our boat year, but it is worth noting that the davits changed a lot at some point in the process, We have the later version. It is very possible the earlier models have a different spacing.

Re: RIB that fits 34mv
One of my few complaints about our boat is the location of the lifting points on the davits. No dinghy I have seen that would fit between the hulls has lifting points spread that far apart and that makes it tough on the hoisting tackle. All they would have had to do is angle the davits inboard a bit...

Re: question on props
I am far from an expert on this, but you have two possibilities. For a constant diameter, if the pitch is too small, your engine should run up to maximum RPM before you reach the boat speed you expect. If the pitch is too great, your engine will fail to reach normal full throttle RPM and still not r...

Re: Genset Exhaust Soot
We have the same "problem" but I just clean that little area more often. In the whole scheme of things, it is not a big deal as long as the generator runs reliably, which it does.

Re: Slidemoor system for MV 34?
Thanks, Sam. I am very familiar with the slidemoor and have seen a few tideslide installations, too. I was mainly wondering if there were any special considerations when using the slidemoor on an MV34.
