Re: What was the last PDQ 36 made?

My wife Susan and I own the last PDQ 36. It is hull # 099 and is berthed at Amelia Island Yacht Basin in fernandina Beach Florida.

Thanks for the tip on the running light! (Also to Dick on Catch-22). When we checked the lights, port side screws were not completely tight but starboard side were so loose it was surprising that the light had not fallen out. So far no water since we tightened up the screws but our only test has bee...

We also have water in the starboard bilge. I suspect the transducer thru hull but have not been able to verify. Will post if we discover anything definitive.

Honda Generators

When we connect our eu2000 to the shore power receptacle the Paneltronics reverse polarity light comes on. The Honda manual notes that since the eu2000 is internally grounded it may fool some polarity testers. Has anyone seen this situation with their Hondas? Is it a problem? If so, is there an easy...

I was at the PDQ factory yesterday and also stopped by the Whitby Marina and noticed that the seven (7) PDQ 43's already at the yard have the anchor roller mounted midships rather than on the starboard bow (as in the PDQ 36). Midships mounting seems to obviate the need for a bridal.

Erie Canal

Susan & I will be making the trip from Whitby to Solomon's MD this June on Passge Back (PDQ 36099). We are interested to know how long it took for others to get from Oswego to Catskill so that we can plan our trip. Catskill to Chesapeake Bay is easier to plan but the transit time in the canal is...

I was at the PDQ factory last Thursday to inspect our new cat (36099) which may well be the last 36. The shop was full of MV34's, one 44 and one other 36 (36098). PDQ seemed unsure about future sales of the 36 but my guess is that if they cannot get more than 2 orders each year, they will not build ...

Spreader Halyards

Are there any particular type of spreader halyards that work better with a PDQ 36 or can we just use the typical Johnson's from Boat/US?

Outfitting a PDQ 36 - Head Sails

Are there any recommendations for light air / downwind headsails. Asymmetric spinnakers, gennakers, screechers, etc?

Outboard Flushing

What does the POA suggest for techniques & frequency of flushing the outboards? Owners manual's usually recommend after each use in salt water. Seems unlikely given outboard mounting location, crusing areas, etc.

Hatch Ventilators

I have asked PDQ quote a price for supplying and installing the Nicro day/night solar fans on the hatches of our new PDQ. They counter with a little history on this topic. At one time, PDQ did offer them as an option. However, they say there were constant issues with leakage. Does the POA have any i...

Outfitting a PDQ

We are in the process of buying the gear to outfit our new PDQ 36 #099 and would like some advice about several items. 1) What size fenders are required? 6", 8", etc 2) Best docking line lengths for bow/stern and springs? 3) Best docking line size? 1/2", 5/8" We also welcome any ...
