Re: Hull #12 Possible Fresh Water Leak???
Sometimes a little bit of vasoline on the o-ring will help with sealing.

Re: water in keel
I discovered water in my keels on Tanah Keeta the first time I pulled her for bottom painting. You can tell real easily.. knock on the keels.. if they sound like the lead keel on your mono hull, they have water... if they sound hollow, they are empty. I had a hole rubbed in the keel where my anchor ...

Re: Cruising speed
I don't know what the fuel burn rate is but I was surprised to learn from several owners that the max speed under power is not much more than the 36 with outboards.

Re: Ground Tackle
When I first bought Tanah Keeta (36089), it came with a 35 lb CQR and 25 ft of chain. I found out fairly quickly that 60 ft of chain was better. I had to use a 15 lb. kellet on the 25 ft chain to keep the rode from wrapping my keels. The extra length of chain resolved the problem. As to the anchor.....

Re: mast up or down
I always stored Tanah Keeta with the mast up. I removed both sails and the dodger and never had a problem.

Re: Out of water storage stand / blocking
Hi Dave, When I owned Tanah-Keeta (36089), I cruised the Bahamas in the winter and stored her during the summer. I took the easy way and just blocked the keels and put stands fore and aft under the hulls. The boat showed no ill effects from this storage method. While waiting for a sale, she was stor...

Re: Port engine runs hotter than Starboard.
I guess that I have been reading the forum too much... took the boat out yesterday to run off the bottom scum and found the port engine running at 100 degrees C. When idling back to the slip, it came back down to normal, Guess I will have to go thru all the ideas above.

Re: Straightening a bent rudder post.
I bent my starboard rudder in Daytona. After haul out, it was apparent that the locals could not straighten it. The solution was to remove the rudder and drill a new set screw hole about 1 inch higher which, when reinstalled, lowered the rudder. I reinstalled the rudder and it cleared the hull and w...

Re: Salon Windows
Thanks Caribe Sailor for the tip on the Butyl tape. I have a 34 powercat with a leaking port. I googled this tape and found that it is widely used in the RV industry to seal windows. Most of the brands I found were 1/8 inch thick. Where did you find 1/16 inch tape?

Re: Battery Equalization
I performed an equalization cycle several times on Tanah-Keeta. I had the Heart Freedom 20 charger/inverter. The instructions with the charger were to top off all cells first, then start the equalization cycle. This is an automatic function that the charger controls once initiated. The cycle lasts f...

Re: DIY boatyard in GA, SC or NC
I have used Hurrricane Boatyard in Bayboro, NC for the last 4 years. In fact, I think the owners of my old boat still have it there. The yard has a 21 ft travel lift and allows DIY. Their charges last year were about $360 to haul, powerwash and launch and includes the first month of storage. Storage...

Re: Propeller Hubs
On Tanah-Keeta (36089) my old engines had 1600 hours with the same props.. no hub failures and my new engines had around 5-600 hours.... don't remember exactly... with no failures. I always ran at 4000 rpm.... about 6.5 kts. In our many trips on the ICW, we had ample opportunity to experience wind a...

Re: water pump removal
I learned about this at the Mack Boring class. Their instructions were to lever the engine up to just take off the load on the front mounts. Place a block under the engine to hold it there. Mark the motor mount base by drawing a line around it (on the fiberglass) so you can replace it exactly. Do no...

Re: "No Fix" with Raytheon RL70 Chartplotter
I had that problem with the RL70 on my 36 (hull #89). It was solved by replacing the GPS receiver. If yours was as old as mine...2001..., it was the first issue of the WAAS technology and I could get only 3-4 satellites and going under a bridge would even shut it down. I bought a new receiver and ne...
