Re: Closing the head intake seacock after each use.

I own hull 48 and the head module that was installed was one that had just been fabricated for the first power cat. In front of the bowl is a circular section with a screw in access plate. It's dia. is larger than the height of the step the bowl sits on but it has been faired in to the step. I can e...

Re: Lightning strike forces replacement BEP circuit board

The panel in my 2001 Altair was made by Paneltronics model 4401. They have many different configurations so maybe you could find one to fit your boat.

Re: starting problems after idle period

I have the same problem with both engines. They act like they're starved for fuel. I have found that if I immmediately put them in gear and accelerate they will keep going.
This isn't feasable if on the mooring or at a slip unfortuneatly.

Re: Replacing Mast, Boom and Crossbeam on PDQ32

I believe the original cross beams, masts , and booms were made by Offshore Spars.
Later masts and booms were made by Selden the cross beams by Offshore.

Re: Beckson Ports

Just a warning for you northeners. When I had a new guy shrink wrap my boat this year his heat gun melted all my screens and left an imprint on some of the windows that won't clean up.

Re: Where to put additional batteries

I have 4 6v batteries on my boat 32048. 2 are in starboard engine well and 2 are under cockpit step. Each pair are in series and the pairs are connected together in parallel. The cables are run thru a hole in the wall between the cockpit step locker and engine well and along the outside wall of the ...

Re: mast up or down

I've stored my 32 every year with the mast up and I've had it shrinked wrapped. The advantage of shrink wrap over a tarp is the solar panels still work and will keep the batteries charged and the solar vents working. I have one in each cabin with one blowing in and one out and I've never had a moist...

Re: Anchoring/Mooring Bridal

I have a PDQ32 sailboat which I moor in a tidal river. I started with 16' pennants but found in a wind against tide condition the mooring lines would wrap around the chain on the mooring ball and were starting to fray. I changed the attachment point from under the ball to above and reduced line leng...

Marc, I have a topclimber I haven't used yet. I know you're supposed to use a static line but I'm not sure where you tie it off at the bottom. What do you do ?

The rear batteries on my 32 are almost impossible to check for fluid levels because or their location. I purchased a system from Camping World that replaces the fill caps with shutoff valves and provides interconnecting tubing so the cells can be filled from a single location using a simple squeeze ...

I talked to the owner of Rhumb line (a pdq dealer) at the Boston boat show and he was very optomistic that PDQ would rise again although probably not in Whitby.
