Re: Shaft Seals

Alan, We installed new cutlass bearings and changed to PYI PSS Type A shaft seals a year ago when we had our running gear (shaft & props) removed and repaired. We did have a small leak at one of the seals. As you know, the tightness of the contact between the stainless-steel rotor and the stationary...

Re: painting corroded aluminum window frames

Nice process, Bob. Thanks for the details. I had to do touch-up's on almost every window frame on our PDQ 2 years ago. My process wasn't quite as elaborate as yours with the multi sanding grades, but it turned out well. However, with the help of a paint specialist at our local shipyard, I tried seve...

Aft Fuel Tank dimensions?

Can anyone supply me with the accurate dimensions of the aft fuel tank on a 2006 PDQ. We're planning to have both of our fuel tanks cleaned and "polished" by a company in the Puget Sound area that specializes in this work <http://www.petro-clean.com>. They asked about the shape of the AFT main tank ...

Current C-120 chart SD Card

Does anyone have for sale or know where to buy a current N. America / Canada Navionics SD card for a C-120 Raymarine chart plotter? By current, I'm referring to the larger 2GB SD cards that work with the latest firmware on the C-120 (Ver. 5.1.6)? I've ordered one ($200) through our local Radar Marin...

I’m planning to install high temp alarms on our exhaust systems this winter. For those that have already done this, could you share details on how and where you ran the wires for the panels to the lower AND upper helms

Re: fuel "burping"?

It's a real challenge for all PDQ owners. We tell our charter guests to do what we do... pump fuel slowly and watch the fuel tank gauge carefully; and STOP filling when the needle is steady on FULL. Do NOT try to completely fill the tank.

Re: Replacing house batteries

Duane asked me (privately) how my battery replacement project played out vs. my objectives... Here's what I sent to him. I tried to send this reply to the forum last week, but it did not go through. Apparently there have been some tech problems that have impacted our ability to reply on this forum. ...

Re: wine glasses?

John, We're pretty sure San Juan Sailing buys their plastic wine glasses for their fleet of 50 boats from West Marine. Their use this version <https://www.westmarine.com/buy/strahl--8-oz-da-vinci-goblet--528984?recordNum=13>. And they get a pretty serious discount - probably 30% off the list price. ...

Re: Springfield double helm seat

John, I’m pretty sure our double seat with its 2 pedestals were installed when the boat was built in 2006. The deck in front of the helm is flat and therefore the 2 pedestals are exactly vertical.

Re: Springfield double helm seat

Bill, the following may help: 1. Definitely install 2 pedestals for the Springfield Double Bucket Seat (1 is inadequate). 2. The Springfield seat item # is 1042050. 3. Overton's Camping World (where I bought mine on sale 2 yrs ago) item # 316832 <https://is.gd/tEOyn5> 4. The pedestal used on my PDQ ...

Re: Springfield double helm seat

I replaced the broken down double seat on our 2006 PDQ with the Springfield double seat 1 year ago. It requires 2 pedestal posts and installing it was not easy. I had to line up and carefully mount the 2 rail tracks on the seat bottom to exactly match the tracks on the chair. Installing some of the ...
