Re: Height dimensions of the hardtop

Phenix: Thanks for the photo rotation! What you are seeing on the underside of the hardtop is a bunch of washers and bolts that go up into some starboard (or something similar--i'm no expert) that runs along the fore and aft edges of my original (dead) 3 solar panels. It's nice when I forget to tigh...

Re: Unhappy Rudders

Thanks for the advice, Thinwater. The freezing hypothesis makes a lot of sense. I'll scrape & sand this weekend to see what I can see.

Unhappy Rudders

First issue: I noticed that the leading edge of both rudders has cracked bottom paint & the crack seems to be rusty. I assume that the leading edge is stainless steel that is rusting and expanding under the bottom paint. If I sand off the paint should I encase the rudder in something (epoxy?) before...

Re: Height dimensions of the hardtop

I am not sure this is what you are asking for, but the stainless hardtop support in this (unfortunately sideways) pic is 40" long. IMG_20190416_112502.jpg I will be back on the boat this weekend (13 April 2019), so email any further dimension requests to sailingserenitysquared AT gmail DOT com befor...

Re: Autohelm ST4000+ Problem

FIXED! I turned off "auto trim" and now it works completely differently.

Thanks for the input, Bryan, Drew, and Amy/Tom!

Re: Autohelm ST4000+ Problem

Thanks, everyone, for your replies! Thinwater: the situation is that I get the boat steering straight under power. I engage the autopilot lever and press the "auto" button. When making corrections, the auto pilot seems to do too little too late and the boat swings past the desired heading every time...

Autohelm ST4000+ Problem

After some tinkering and a new belt, my Autohelm ST4000+ mark I is almost working. It seems to over steer and not straighten out the wheel soon enough. The result is an S-shaped path through the water. Has anyone had this problem? Can anyone send me the configuration settings that work for their PDQ...

Twist studs. They make the deck a bit spikey. I would put the twist studs on slanted surfaces (aka: the painted stripe) if you can, so the aft deck is easier to walk/sit on.

Re: Rear cockpit enclosure for PDQ 32?

https://photos.app.goo.gl/fpfMqv3B3f6WbAfq9 We inherited this enclosure from our boat's previous owners. When the enclosure is on, the aft winches and aft seats are barely usable. However, it does make the cockpit into a dry cozy space on a rainy day at anchor. Let me know if you would like better p...

Re: PDQ36 Haul Out Mass

Thanks, Jordic, we are looking for a new winter storage spot in Rhode Island, and hadn't considered New England Boatworks. The ship's store (and consignment shop upstairs) there is excellent. Cay Electronics is just down the road--they did a great job with our new solar & lithium battery upgrade.

Re: 3m Vinyl - Trim-line

Jerry:

Thanks for the tip--the Goof Off Graffiti Remover worked great! We removed the sad silver vinyl around our "big blue butt stripe" (I'm pretty sure that's the correct nautical term) in preparation for painting the stripe black.

Re: Rope clutches ?

I just busted a rope clutch handle, and decided to get the $40 service kit from defender.com ( http://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?id=1501739 ) so I could replace the cracked sides as well. The installation was straight-forward. I highly recommend using a silicone based lubricant on the handle/cam ...
