Re: Imitation (inexpensive) Teak in the cockpit

Hi Eric,

Now that you’ve had the Eva installed fo awhile, what’s your assessment on how well it’s holding up? Corners and edges staying glued down, etc.?

Re: PDQ 36 Steering quadrant repair question

I'd first try to remove the nuts by letting them by covering them tightly with rags and then soaking the rings with penetrating oil. I'd add penetrating oil a couple of times at one-two day intervals. Ig the nuts won't budge, I'd try heating them with a torch. If they still won't budge, I'd use a gr...

Re: Weight and dimension of Hardtop

Like, Terry, I too installed a HardToTop roof on my Classic. It is very light, but works great. It's mainly polycarbonate structured sheets (PCSS) held together with an alum frame that is bolted to the old bimini frame.

Re: Post on salon table?

I have a '92 -- it also had the same post over the table. I assume that the post is there to help support the deck. I removed the post on mine, had a couple of big dudes jump up and down on the deck to see if there was any noticeable flexing, but I didn't notice any, so I left it off, but saved it i...

Lewmar Deck hatch replacement question

I own one of the earlier 36s (1992) and after all these years, a sheet finally caught a hatch handle and ripped it out, taking the plexiglass with it. Time to replace the hatch. It's a "Ocean Hatch" Lewmar. There are two options from which to select: "flange profile" or "fla...

Re: Honda 15

I had Honda 15s - no they don't clear the water plus, mine got eaten up by electrolisys. Also, there are lots of parts on the Hondas that rust... Rather badly. I went back to Yamahas and won't consider using Hondas again.

Re: Salon Bulkhead

You might consider white formica - you can get 4x8 sheets of it at Lowes or other builing supply stores. I've used it to cover bulkheads on another boat and it looked really good . Cover the seams with strips of teak. Ed

I've sailed down there several times, but not in the last 3 years. How long will you be in the area? I've got LOTs of info, but it depends on the length of your stay. Ed

Re: Bahamas in early June

That so called magician at Nippers gets greater in direct proportion to the number of Nipper's rum punches you drink. Befoe your 1st one, you'll wonder why he's there. After just one, he seems pretty good. After two, you be volunteering to be his assistant (Do NOT put on the bikini!!) and after thre...
