We own 32046 in Portland, Oregon. The original owner was from Vancouver, BC. He had the boat transported by trailer from the factory to Vancouver. Must have cost a fortune.

Re: Too fast to lower engines?
Mike and Rebecca, We own 32046 (good view of Katana's bum on the production line) and had the same problem, as well as the whole latch thing issue. Like Drew, we lost part of an anti-cavitation plate when in reverse. Also, like Drew, we concluded that opening the hatches each time we lowered the mot...

Re: Cabinet latch
D.B. Roberts (http://www.dbroberts.com/) is a Southco distributor. They list the latch at $20.43 in single quantities, but the price drops to $10.54 for 10 or more. I've never ordered with these guys, so can't help you there. I've had good luck buying from McMaster Carr in the past. One other note: ...

Re: L.P. Gas locker smell + +
Agree with Sandy that the aft lockers on a 32 are unsafe for propane storage. Our boat came with a BBQ on the aft rail that used the usual 1 pound throwaway cylinders. I've never liked them - always running low in the middle of cooking. I switched to a 10 lb tank that was stored in the forward propa...

Re: Manual Starting of 9.9s
We had to hand start the SB engine our 32 (which I think is what you have) and found it to be quite easy. The pull angle is horizontal when the engine is all the way down. If you are strong, you can just bend over and give it a pull, despite the poor angle. If not, sitting in the cockpit with your f...

Re: Bowsprit
I have added a free-flying furling screacher with a traveler track to my 32. No photos yet. There is a curved track between the bows. The furler is attached to a traveler car. I'm still trying to decide about running the control lines (2 for the car plus 1 for the furler) aft or just running things ...

I think it would help, especially when cruising with a serious payload. Here are a couple links describing similar projects on boats about our size. The article about Katie Kat is particularly good. http://www.instantweb.com/s/siudzinski/Cruise/KatieKat2007F.html#Transom http://www.time-for-a-catama...

I was just at our local boat show and saw the new 9.9. It is a new engine, not the detuned 15 hp that doesn't fit. It is nearly identical to the new 8 hp. The dealer said it was the same engine with different carb settings but the Yamaha website shows it as 212 cc vs 197 cc for the 8. Compression is...

Brian, I had the identical situation. Like you, I read through all the previous postings and articles. Here is what I found. I first removed the brass nipple and started poking around. The hole was filled with calcium carbonate. (the sand like substance you found). I was able to get some of it out, ...
