Re: Rudder Removal

Thanks for the info and suggestions. As near as we can tell, there was likely an old piling or log in the mud beneath her in the slip and she beat against with the extreme low tides we had this year. We are going to move her since the extreme tidal swings we are getting now seem to be here to stay. ...

Rudder Removal

During the past winter Catch 22 apparently sat down in her slip due to very strange weather patterns and broke off the port rudder. Now I have to drop that post to ship off for a new one to be built. Is there somewhere I can look up that explains how to drop the rudder? What all is involved? Any hel...

Re: Engine stalls when throttled back

Great! Thanks for the advice it was pretty much what I thought. Now for the real question...can you pull the carb with the motor in the water? Pulling the motor is problematic for me without pulling the boat. If so, I am sure you guys already know the tricks to it.

Engine stalls when throttled back

Need some advice as to what to try. It gets real tricky when I am headed down a tight runway and need both engines to get in/out of my slip. Yamaha 9.9 stalls whenever I pull the throttle back. It starts alright but idles a bit rough and sometimes will stall when apply throttle unless push it well f...

Re: Power Tilt

Thanks to all for your inputs. I too had concerns about the 5 1/2" set back. I think I may end up with waiting until I re-engine. In the mean time, I am going to try and come up with a better mousetrap with some sort of winching arrangement. I am also trying to come up with some sort of noise d...

Re: Power Tilt

Thanks, valued knowledge just down the creek is very much appreciated...I have been considering a different block & tackle arangemnt. Perhaps one that keeps positive tension on the motor both ways, so I don't have to do the strap thing to lock the motors down. Also thought of a possible winch ar...

Power Tilt

Have any of you installed a CMC Cook Mfg PT-35 Tilt & Trim? Issue is my wife cannot raise or lower the 9.9 outboard motors. Additionally, the “strapping” down of the motors to prevent slipping the lock when going in reverse is also problematic. My thought is the use of a power tilt would address...

Deale to Baltimore Inner Harbor

Deale to Baltimore Inner Harbor Have any of you made the sail from Deale (Herring Bay) to Baltimore Inner harbor? We are sailing Catch 22 up over Labor Day for the Baltimore Grand Prix. We have a slip for the three days right there so we can enjoy the whole thing and no driving. How long a trip do I...

Re: Catch 22 on the Chesapeake

I really like the idea of a Herring Bay raft up. I also like the idea of opening it up Gemini friends as well. While this weekend may not be doable for Catch 22 I can see it in the future. Great idea!!!!!

Re: Catch 22 on the Chesapeake

Thanks Sandy: You are right about the forum; it just took me awhile to get to it. I like what you are saying about high siding the traveler…makes sense for us since I do almost all the sail handling and Bobbie has the helm. I am still trying different things to deal with the much bigger cockpit and ...
