Dinghy/Solar pane larch

I am working with a marine fabricator to build an arch for my boat. Does anyone have any photos of their dingy setups to post to help us put something together? Would appreciate any and all suggestions as well as photos. We are planning to construct this with marine grade schedule 40 aluminum. Thank...

Yamaha Inproved Access

After 9 years of bruises and contortions servicing my out board motors, I decided to improve the access. I know PDQ has solved this sutition on later boats, but I had to deal with what I had. ( I can't stands no more) 1. I taped the opening to be cut with masking tape to get a nice cut. I cut out a ...

Re: Rudders draging on hull

Thank you for sharing that information. I did actually try that approach as my rudder was only slighty bent. I ran a line from the rudder to the bow roller and to the winch. I was able move the rudder, but when released it went right back. I didn't feel confortable putting any more strain on that ri...

Re: Rudders draging on hull

Chet, Thank you for the the information. That is what I will do, unfortunately both rudders are rubbing and I will have to do them both. Thank you also for the lift offer, but I think I will have it hauled again.

Rudders draging on hull

I have noticed that when I turn the wheel to starboard both rudders come in contact with the hull. Turning to port is fine with a little clearance. I just hauled the boat for bottom paint, and I was present for the in and out haul. I don't believe anything damaged the rudders at that time. Since thi...

Re: Steering Noise

Great photos. My emergency tiller looks exactly like that. Before I replaced my steering cables I decided to try the tiller. The weld at the 90 degree angle broke with minim effort. I took it to a metal fabricator and had it rewelded. I would say the tiller had never been tried because the weld was ...

Re: replacement trampolins

Hello Richard, I replaced my tramps about 5 years. I used Triton Sails to make the new ones. as they made sails for PDQ's. The cost at that time was $500.00. They turned out to be a little longer on one side than the origional ones, so I had to extent the ss tubing. The material still looks like new...

Re: Steering cable replacement

I didn't have to remove the tangential unit as mine looked good. I did look carefully at that area and was thinking, I hope the nuts holding the unit are molded in some how. I would call Pete at Florida Rigging and Hydraulics. He has done that job and he doesn't mind sharing information. It would be...

Steering cable replacement

I just completed steering cable replacement and wanted to share some of the difficulties I encountered, but first thank you to Sandy Daugherty for the information on his post, it was very helpful. I spoke to Chip Cooper at Lewmar. He referred me to Florida Rigging and Hydraulics. They are the Lewmar...

Tachometer Install

I have wanted to install tachometers on my Yahama's, but didn't want to go through wiring hassle. I read an article about Tiny Tach and decided to install two. The installation is very easy. Mount the Tach, Wrap the red wire around spark plug wire and connect ground wire to engin ground. If interest...

Raymarine ST4000+ Auto pilot

Recently my auto pilot starting making sounds like the drive belt was failing. I called Raymarine and the parts person told me Raymarine could no longer supply the part #d169 belt and they had been out of supply for some time. Their tech. support advised me to search the web with that part number, o...
