Re-pitching propellers
We have a 32’ Altair with 2gm20 engines. We have been having a problem with both engines. Recently the mechanic tried to rev the engines up to WOT but could only get to 2800rpm. He said that we must be over propped and recommended that we change props. We currently have Flexofold two blade folding p...

Re: Prop shaft strut
First, I should clarify. My boat is a diesel. The prop shaft strut is separated from the bottom plate right at the weld. I’m not sure when or how this happened. I discovered it when I dove down to clean the props.

Re: Water Filters--Specifically PDQ 32, but other options al
I installed a Seagull water filter. This is a drinking water only system. It has it's own dedicated spigot which I installed by the galley sink. Even when the water sits in the tanks for over a month in the summer, the water still has no taste or odor. Great system.

Re: House Bank Batteries
Sears sells AGM batteries. Their Platinum brand is manufactured for them by Enersys/Odyssey. Just bought one for my starting battery. Same footprint as the old one but much higher cranking amps.

Re: House Bank Batteries
I have just found out that Sears is now selling AGM batteries. The company that makes them is a military supplier so I think that they should be pretty well made. Check them out

Thru-hull handles
I need to replace the handles on the thru-hulls. It is marked MS58 and underneath that it is either 314 or 3/4.
Does anyone know who the manufacturer is so that I can order new handles.

Re: PDQ 32 LRC
We have a 32 LRC. The question comes down to what type of cruising you want to do. Yes, the LRC is slower under sail. However, we do enjoy more water (90 gal), battery charging with a large bank, extended cruising range (350 - 400 nm) with just diesels, hot water, keeping the frig running, small (En...

Schackles for the tramp
I need to replace one of the shackles on the tramp. It looks like it is a standard 1/4" long D shackle but the jaw opening is too small. I have tried to make the opening larger but a bigger opening means the pin won't fit. Any suggestions?

Re: Refrigerator
So far the Norcold is holding up. Very low amp draw. The instalation was interesting. I did install two fans. One for the compressor and one in the refrigerator box. There is just enough room for the compressor. The instructions say that there must be enough ventilation so I put a small fan, with a ...
