Re: BERMUDA

I have made the Bahamas trip many times. I used to keep my Brigadoon II in Eluthera. That was a while ago though. This year I am heading to the Exumas in February. I will be in Georgetown the end of February, weather permiting.

Re: Bahama Bound

Don Thanks for the response. I will be leaving Marco Island on 3 February and belining it streight to NASSAU. If the weather is with me it should take me short of a week to get there. I will be in Georgetown a couple days before the regatta starts on 28 February. Let me know where you are anchored i...

Re: SSB - Antenna Location

I installed a SSB antenna in the starboard backstay in October when I replaced all the standing rigging. My PDQ is hull 14 and is going on 20 years old. I bought it new. I have an arch in back with solor panels and the tuner is under the panels. Another option is to locate the tuner in the aft lazer...

boat insurance

:D I have had my PDQ 36 hull #14 insured since I bought it in 1992 and I live on Marco Island Florida, ground zero for Wilma. I have had no claimes. My agent is USAA, and I pay $1,800 yearly.

Easy Fresh Water Flush - Yamaha 9.9

You can fresh water flush Yamaha 9.9 Outboard engines from the cockpit without running them. I flush my engines whenever I can get to a fresh water hose. You need to first remove the thermostat. I do not use a thermostat here in the warm waters of South Florida anyway so my thermostats stay removed....

I pump the oil out through the oil dip stick hole, not the oil filler hole. The dip stick hole leads directly to the bottom of the oil pan which is difficult to reach through thr oil filler. This is the simplist, safest, and cleanest way to do it. Oil Hand pumps are not expensive and are available a...

Outboard lockdown

I alwaws check to see that the engine is locked down when lowering the Yamaha 9.9. Also I tie a not in the line so it is tight when down. Also check the line pully on the lower end of the engine. It should not be a swivel pully but rather fixed so it will not swivel. This stops the line from rapping...
