Re: Replacing house batteries

Jim,

Be sure to disconnect from shore power too before working on your batteries. I don't think there is a set order to removing the battery cables.

Re: How to secure dinghy

Drew, great graphic of Tom Patey; an excellent analogy! The "devil" is certainly hidden in the details on these boats.

Alan, thanks for the additonal pics!

Re: How to screen off deck gap under aft seat

Duane, that is excellent. Thanks.

John... could you describe the size of holes in your netting? Better yet, could you send some photos?

Re: Replacing house batteries

Jim, We're facing the same issue on our 2006 PDQ Powercat. we bought the boat last April. The 4 "Golf Cart" deep cycle batteries were new at that time. However, we quickly found they do NOT have enough amp power to allow us to operate at anchor for more than 24 hours. And it was taking 6-9 hours to ...

Re: How to secure dinghy

John, could you please send some pics showing how you set the ratchet straps? I'm seeing a pattern now about the effectiveness of using the ratchet straps.

Re: How to secure dinghy

Thanks, Tom. Your davit is very different from mine (2006). What year is your boat?

Re: How to secure dinghy

John, Thanks for the reinforcing comments on using straps. Could you please send photos showing how you strap your dinghy down. I also want to see the davit system on your boat. Alan's and Duane's pics appear to show the same davit that I have... which I thought was the reinforced system that arrive...

How to screen off deck gap under aft seat

We're worried about gear sliding off the aft deck under the seat. It seems odd that PDQ did not at least install some kind of a raised rail under the aft seat. I recall seeing a photo of another Powercat with some kind of screen or netting material used as a barrier to prevent stuff from sliding off...

Re: How to secure dinghy

Alan, RE: your outboard question... yes, I leave our outboard on the dinghy. It's a small, lightweight 2.3 HP air cooled Honda. Weighs about 30 lbs. It's enough power to get around. Ultra low 3 star CARB emissions - Environmentally conscious technology. See: http://marine.honda.com/outboards/motor-d...

Re: How to secure dinghy

Thanks to both of you. Very helpful. John , if you could take a couple of pics at your convenience, I would appreciate seeing how you do it. Sounds like both of you rely on adjustable straps to secure your dinghy. Duane ... separate question... your two pictures show what looks like some kind of scr...

How to secure dinghy

Has anyone come up with a really good way to secure their RIB dingy to effectively minimize movement when underway? Here's how I'm doing it now.

Re: Raymarine ST6002 Smart Pilot Autohelm Control

In case others are interested... we asked a Raymarine electronics technician to diagnose our "dead" autopilot... was the display dead? Or the computer? Or the cable? We could not tell. It took him 30 seconds -- he looked at the FUSE for this device. It should have been a 30 amp slow-blow kind. Inste...

Re: Flybridge Tachometer

I too have had an issue with an intermittent tachometer on the flybridge. We did find that the cable connection inside the lower helm had come loose. So far, tightening it has worked.

Raymarine ST6002 Smart Pilot Autohelm Control

My Raymarine ST6002 Smart Pilot Autohelm Series Control Head (model E12098 - surface mount) just died. Anyone know of a source (besides eBay) for this older piece of electronics? This is for a charter boat so I need it pretty fast.

Re: Battery Compartment dimensions

Richard, Interesting. Let me see if I'm understanding this. You have 5 Lifeline GPL-24T AGM batteries located in the small battery compartment in front of the sliding entry door on your 34' Powercat? What year is your boat? That's amazing that they all fit. Could you please send me a top-down pictur...
