Re: "stupid" newbie questions--threads
The power share limits the 110 volt input current so the charge will take longer. If connected to shore power you can probably leave it set at the highest level. If you were using a small generator or plugging in to a circuit with 15, 20, or 30 amp circuit breakers you would set the power share to s...

Re: "stupid" newbie questions--threads
You should not need to do any set up at this point as it will have been set to match the battery type when installed. The power share settings are there to allow you to reduce input current if you are using a small generator. The invert setting is turned on when you plan to use the inverter to run a...

Re: Mainsail Advise II
You battens still look too light. I replaced mine and I no longer have the S curve. Tightening the leech line also helps.
I agree with the move to a loose foot. I had a loose foot on a previous boat and it allowed much better tuning. That will be my choice on my main replacement.

Re: Battery Draw
Your numbers sound similar to mine although I don't have the 125s. Have you checked the charge on the fridge? If it is low (or too high) it could be running for longer periods than necessary. We have three 75 watt solar panels on the bimini and a 180 watt panel over the davits that keep the batterie...

Re: Self-tacking jib attachment failure
Given that you have boat number 7 and I have number 43 with the same detail it seems that all 32s must have the same connection. I found that my extraction went reasonably easily but I did drill the largest hole I could do without damaging the thread. This left a very thin layer of material and I su...

Re: Self-tacking jib attachment failure
I had exactly the same failure. I bought a broken screw remover - it is slightly tapered with reverse threads that bite into the fastener after you drill a hole down the middle of the broken piece that is remaining. Once the broken piece is out you simply reinstall with a new stainless bolt.

Re: Mast Splice
I was not able to open your attachment however I can tell you that when PDQ increased the mast height on the PDQ32 they added a four foot section with an internal sleeve and rivets. My boat is a 1999 and the splice seems good as new. Possibly the 36 has the same splice?

On the Yamaha the engine in the half tilt position allows reasonable access to plugs.

Re: Ice Box Lid
I suggest you check your system cooling fluid pressure. When my unit needs a recharge it still keeps things cold but it runs non stop.
You can buy a recharge kit with gauge and it is a simple operation. Just be careful not to overcharge the system as that will also reduce performance.

Re: replace lost batten
If you have the original battens I recommend replacing with stiffer ones. My original battens did not hold proper sail shape in winds much over 8 knots.

Re: Honda 15
Having experienced white knuckle docking with the 9.9 Yammies on full throttle trying to maintain control in high winds I would not consider the Torquedo. They develop only 280 lb. of thrust vs 250 for the 9.9 s. I have looked at the Ray Electric outboards which claim 250 lb. thrust in their 60 volt...

Thanks for the report. I was particularily interested in hearing that the new engines were not as noisy. I was not aware that they had made changes that would make the engines much quieter. Let us know how they perform.

Re: Water where it shouldn't be!
I regularily had water come in through the shower drain until I bought some hose and routed the exit in a high loop. This cleared up the issue. Water coming in through the anchor chain exit is not unusual in bumpy seas however it should exit through drain opening at the bottom of the locker. They ca...
