Re: Water in engines
I have been down this road a few times. Running on one engine and not closing the seacock will cause this. The next probable cause would be a blocked "piddle" tube. It runs from the vented loop (behind a cabinet in the cabin, follow the 1" water hose from the exhaust elbow) to a small...

Re: New Owner Questions
3. The lines that look like 1/2" Pex tubing are actually 15 milimeter. Not available anywhere I could find except marine supply. I got fittings at Defender, they are made by Whale. As far as leaks, I found one in the salon ceiling near the stbd window where a ceiling trim screw had penetrated i...

Re: Springfield double helm seat
Stuart Yacht installed mine a few years ago. I was a fairly complicated project but came out great, totally satisfied with the install. After 5 years of use I have mixed feelings. For entertaining the double seat is great, for long passages I would much prefer a nice single seat.

Re: Hydraulic steering bleeding - possible manual mistake?
Hey Tom,
I put an end seal in my starboard cylinder a few years ago, but can't remember the exact method for bleeding. I think I followed the SeaStar instructions, don't remember it being much of a problem getting it bled.

Re: Fuel transfer pump
If my not so photographic memory is accurate, I believe they are pressure switches. Probably designed to shut down the pump if the line is blocked( or valve not opened). If both valves are open and lines are clear, you could easily have a bad switch.
Hope this helps.

Re: Transmission Maintenance Schedule
Tim, I have been down this road, here is what I learned. Be sure the engines are running properly before chasing prop pitch. My injectors had slowly degraded, not allowing the engines to develop full horsepower, so the changes to the props did not really help. After the injectors were repaired the o...

Re: Finally got a PDQ 34
John, I believe Magic is hull 34 and is the last 2003. I happened to be at the marina when the previous owners were looking at it and the broker asked if I would give my thoughts on PDQ's (he listed the one I bought 3 years earlier, #32), so I got to know the boat a little. Later Dick & Carol Tu...

Re: Prop pitch for 110hp engines
Larry,
I believe the 110 hp is a 3200 rpm motor vs the 3800 rpm 100 hp that came out. I think that will make a difference.

Re: Davit failures
I had a davit failure in April. On the Neuse River in a fairly rough chop. The dink had lost some air over a few days and was not secured as well as normal. The swinging motion certainly makes the problem worse. The engine side collapsed in the main tube at the lower bend. It was repaired at Atlanti...

Re: wiper arms?
Just a follow up, the replacement motor is Marinco/ AFI # 71082. Our boat is a 2003, hull #32. The original motor had 4 "lines" embossed in the plastic cover. The replacement is a two speed motor, use the low speed connection. It is also a bit thicker making the cover not seat completely.

Re: Yanmar 75hp and 100hp exhaust elbow
Jerry, I replaced both of mine in December with the ebay elbows. Seem to be a good quality piece, much more substantial than the yanmar parts. The ebay seller was very good to work with, solving a shipping issue quickly. When changing elbows I had to replace all the studs. They all came out easily, ...

Re: wiper arms?
Does anyone have the part number for the wiper motor? AFI Marinco show several choices and there is no visible number on the motor. Trying to keep from taking the old one off until the new part is in hand.
Thanks,
Rafe

Re: Prop Zincs make/model
Russ, Gregg changed mine to a Camp P-5. It's a different style altogether but it does solve the problem of them falling off. Maybe these could be more readily available in the Bahamas. We plan to be around the Abacos in mid March, hope we can cross paths. Rafe PS: I several of the original style at ...
