Re: Hydraulic Ruder Aligbment
Rudder alignment frequency is a function of two things..1. How much the rams are leaking and 2. How often you turn the rudders. As a result, no two boats are identical in their need to align the rudders and even on the same boat the frequency can vary based on sea conditions where lots of rudder act...

Black rubber window gasket material
Hello to all, All of our boats have Bomar windows that use a unique black rubber gasket material on the outside. Like all rubber material exposed to the weather it does deteriorate over time unless very well maintained. Any good protectant material like 303 protectant or inflatable boat protectant w...

2006/2007 SS Ports
Hi Folks, For those of us with 2006 and 2007 model year boats we have SS ports offered by Bowmar. They are excellent ports but as they age some may encounter leaking problems that can lead to a more significant failure of the port. Bear with me as this is a long story..... The way the ports are manu...

Re: Retaining ring on forward windows
Yes.....you can remove the retention ring inside the boat. When the windows were installed they used a good adhesive/sealant on the outside that will actually hold the window in place.

Re: Cutlass Bearing Replacement
As an update to previous posts..... Even with a good cutlass bearing in place, when you detach the shaft coupling from the flexible coupling it will drop a couple of inches due to the long run from the cutlass bearing and the weight of the shaft and coupling. This condition make accurate alignment v...

3/4 Forespar thru hull valves
Hello to all, Because of a failure on our boat I found out that a small number of 3/4" valves had a manufacturing defect that allowed the nut that holds the on/off handle to come loose from the housing and thus the handle falls off !! If the handle comes off in the ON position there is a modera...

4JH3 HTE Injector Pump
I have a spare injector pump, tested and certified by Everglades Diesel Service that is available at a substantial savings. It is a long and financially painful story but I replaced this unit with a new one when it was totally unnecessary. New units are close to $5000 and I am asking $1499 for this ...

Re: Oil type for the 100 hp engines
Hello to all, On the subject of oil....it is interesting to note that all of the new diesel engines come with Synthetic oil and recommend its use. I switched over to syn many many years ago and have been very satisfied with the benefits and can tolerate the slightly higher cost. I have found that th...

Re: Fresh Water water flow PDQ 34
Hello Bill, To answer your question I believe all 05 boats came with a large white GE sediment filter that was located under the refrigerator. If you do not have one on your boat it was probably removed by a previous owner. The filters are not a bad idea as the aluminum tanks to cause a build up of s...

Rudder safety warning!!!
This is a urgent safety notice to all owners, but primarily owners of 2005 and older hulls. An immediate check should be done on the locking mechanism that secures the rudder post and prevents it from dropping down. It is critical that the rudder post is not allowed to drop down below the upper fitt...
