Re: novacool fridge
Thanks much, Mac. I just got done putting in new MFDs, RADAR, and network switches, so a little tired of wire pulling at the moment.

Re: novacool fridge
Tim,
Can you please describe the path the wiring takes from the panel to the fridge and what you needed to remove (if anything)?
Thanks!

I would definitely change the cookware before trying to change the sink!

Re: novacool fridge
Tim,
I have not looked into this seriously yet, as I am involved with other boat projects, but your suggestion sure makes sense for the reasons you state.

Re: Electric gremlin
I'm no electrical engineer, but I would imagine all the utility power in the USA is likely to have the same sine wave. Peak voltage where you tap in is another story.
Sounds like it will remain a mystery for a while longer.

Re: Electric gremlin
Breakers do wear out and fail. They are sized to protect the wiring from overheating and causing a fire, so increasing the amp rating of the breaker is not advised unless it was undersized to begin with. What about just replacing the breaker with the current size and see if the old one was just worn...

Re: Dinghy Hoist - added winch
Thanks, Alan. I did not articulate it, but my thought was to add a cleat to the horizontal rail outboard of the armrest. When done hoisting, I would keep 3 turns of line on the winch drum and then tightly cleat off the tail end. If the cam cleat or its mounting went into sudden failure, the winch an...

Dinghy Hoist - added winch
I don’t know about the rest of you, but my dinghy and 9.9 four-stroke engine have gotten quite a bit heavier over the 9 years I have owned them. Hoisting the after end of the dinghy with the weight of the engine got progressively harder over time, but putting brand new line on the 6-part tack...

Re: Propeller size for the 100 hp engines.
I found it in the Operations Manual. I have been told to use a dish detergent diluted down, say 10 drops of detergent in 1/4 cup of water. Putting that in a spray bottle for introduction to the intake works well. Others might know better and will advise here. Here is the relevant snippet: turbo wash...

Re: Propeller size for the 100 hp engines.
Nick, From everything I have come to understand, if you are running your engines 3,000-3,200 RPM, you should not need to go higher to "blow out the turbos." An occasional excursion to WOT will be good simply to tell you if you can still achieve the rated RPM (about 3,800) and to monitor th...

Re: Bahamas crossing
Bill, For some reason I did not get notified of other replies to this thread, so I just happened to check... Sorry about the turbo. Our port engine had a turbo bearing/seal rebuild just before we bought her and the seal on the intake air side failed pretty quickly, leaking lots of oil into the intak...

Regarding your port engine (why is it almost always the port engine?) -
In neutral, you are supposed to be able to hit about 4,300 RPM. If yours is really limited to 3,400 RPM, that itself is a real problem. As to low RPM in gear, can we assume the prop is clean?

Re: Aft Running/navigation light
This a very old thread, but since I found it trying for anchor light replacement tips... The 360 degree white light on boats less than 12 meters is a replacement for the standard 225 degree forward white light (which matches the arc of the red/green side lights) and a separate 135 degree white stern...
