Re: Thelma and Louise Up To No Good
Sorry for chiming in so late, but I noticed in your original post you said that you "partially" disassembled the carb. I went partially nuts once when cleaning my carb, because I neglected one hard to reach area. Search out and remove every screw, especially the one with the rubber cap. Ho...

Re: Bottom paint removal
Oh well. I was hoping to hear about using a paint remover like PeelAway. I guess it's not as easy as they make it sound. I have aout 15 layers to remove. UGH!

Bottom paint removal
Has anyone come up with an easier way of doing this (sanding), other than paying to have it done?

Re: Poor mans hardtop project
Hi, I looked into "Hardtotop" also, but I wanted something that I could stand on. I was also concerned about sealing the openings of all the hollow channels to keep out water and bugs. I finally reverted to the material that I'm best with...Wood. I have the top finished, but because of rec...

Re: Poor mans hardtop project
Hi, I'm presently building a hardtop also. Originally I wanted to use FG sheets, but couldn't locate any, so I'm using 6mm marine plywood. Where did you find your sheets? I have a welded aluminum frame that's covered with stamoid that needs replacing. That's why I'm making the hardtop. Marc This is ...

Re: Cutting in Inspection ports in 1990 34'
Hi, my inspection plate is 4' back from the bow inside the chain locker. I also have a plate up high, near where the hull intersect with the deck, that gives access to the dead area forward of the main cabins. The rear plates are 5' from bottom stern step, in the floor of the steering quadrent locke...

Re: 9.9 won't run above an idle
Hi Dan, I'm sorry for your problem, but thrilled that my 3 year old post helped. It turned out that the oil pan had a major ieak. Probably corrosion. I had intended to remove the engine and swap out the pan with one from an old engine that I had. After looking into what was involved I decided it was...

Re: Replacement Wind Vane
Hi Sam, When that happened to me, about 10 years ago, I called Raymarine. They offered me a special price for a replacement. It might have been a re-manuf. unit. I can't remember (What did I have for breakfast again?)

Mooring Pickup
Hi, Interesting article in this months Cruising World mag on handling and maneuvering a cat. I picked up a few tips that I'll try if I get in the water this summer (surgery, ugh.) Being south of NE, I don't run into too many mooring fields, so I haven't developed a regular plan for picking up a moor...

Re: gelcoat update
A few years ago, I used a 2-part Interthane color, Hatteras White. It was almost perfect. I don't know if it's still available though.
