Re: VHF Radio replacement
I contacted iCom and sent our radio in for repair. The repair was successful. The radio is back and doing fine. Plus, we replaced the cheap-o Shakespeare VHF antenna for a more powerful one. That helped too. Now, I get the normal chatter on Ch 16.

Mystery "Plate" in Holding Tank
I've been trying for some time to figure out why there is an intermittent clog in our holding tank piping toward the tail end (pun intended) of the pump out process. After many flushes, I finally got the tank clean enough so I could see the bottom and there it was... a large, thin 6-7" diameter...

Re: Deck washdown thruhull
Found it! Our PDQ has 3 thru hull valves in the head bilge - one for Holding Tank discharge, one for salt water washdown and one extra that is unused (that must be the one for offshore toilet waste).

Re: Deck washdown thruhull
Alan, Thanks. That helps to hear that all of PDQ boats use fresh water for flushing and that the "large thruhull in front of the toilet is used when offshore to pump the waste holding tank overboard". However, since that large valve you refer to is closed, I'm remain feeling confused about...

Re: Deck washdown thruhull
Will do. There are 2 thru-hull valves at that location. One is clearly the for the holding tank. The other is confusing (in my mind) because I know the toilet is not connected to the 2nd thru-hull in the head. It was converted a long time ago to fresh water. All waste goes to the holding tank. And t...

Deck washdown thruhull
I am confused about the location of the deck washdown thruhull valve. My 2006 PDQ 34 boat's piping diagram shows it to be linked to the toilet thruhull valve locacted under the floor board directly in front of the toilet. However, my toilet does not use that thruhull -- all toilet wasted goes into t...

Re: Water Filter
Some questions about keeping the boat's water clean... • Do you chlorinate annually? • I assume you use household bleach, right? • Do you run a full or partial chlorinated tank through the lines? • Quantity of bleach per tank? • Do you routinely add a small amount of bleach to every tank? How much? ...

Re: Paint around Bomar Windows on PDQ36 s/v
I've got a similar issue with some corrosion on the door and window frames on our PDQ 34. I'd like to know what paint anyone has found and used that comes close to matching the original bright gloss white color. We're wondering if anyone has tried Pettit's Polyurethane Easypoxy Gloss White #3175?

Re: Water Filter
Our boat has a WaterGuard water filter by Shurflo -- model RV-10VIH-A (Bypass model). It's mounted inside the cabinet under the refrigerator and it filters all of the water in the boat. It has a valve that allows water to bypass the filter if desired. It takes a 10" SHURflo 15500243 Replacement...

Duane has described the way this boat handles rough water very well.

VHF Radio replacement
My iCom IC-M504 VHF has lost its receive capability. I need to replace it. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has replaced their VHF in the last couple of years... Brand? Model? Features? Remote mic included? Same size so it fits the 5 ¾" x 3 ⅝" hole in the sub-panel? Price?

Re: Courtesy lights
Hey, I found the switch! It's a breaker on the left side of my sub-panel (3rd one down)... never saw it before now! All 4 lights work.

The 4 on my 2006 are: port & Stbd middle transom steps, one above aft window (under overhang) and one next to ladder to flybridge (under overhang).

Courtesy lights
Just discovered that all 4 of my exterior Courtesy lights do not work. All of the interior Courtesy lights do work. There is only one breaker on the D.C. Panel for these lights. Is there a switch somewhere else inside or outside that controls the exterior lights? If there isn't a switch for the exte...
