Re: 2006/2007 SS Ports
Dick, Thanks for the detailed explanation. A couple of years ago one of our SS port windows started leaking. I purchased enough replacement gasket material from Bomar to do all the SS port windows. We have not had any problem since. I am hoping we caught it early enough and will not have the more si...

Re: Florida Storage
John, I don't know what the humidity level is, I have never actually checked it. Janet is very alert to any humidity and any slight odor that could be from moisture and her alarm has never gone off. We have never seen any signs of excess moisture either. I am confident it is doing the job though. I ...

Re: Florida Storage
If there is access to a regular 120V 15 0f 20 amp outlet, they do make an adapter that plugs into the outlet and connects to your 30 amp power cord. It at least lets you bring the power in the normal way. We carry one but have never had to use it.

Re: Florida Storage
Nick, We live in Florida and when we are not on the boat we use a dehumidifier like John does when the boat is out of the water. I take it on and off the boat when we take trips so I did not want a house sized dehumidifier. I bought a small one that has worked perfect for a boat the size of ours. Th...

Re: Effective Water
One reason the water tank gauge is inaccurate is the tank is built with one angled side. The tank does not have four vertical sides. The tank is much wider at the top than the bottom. The forward wall starts about 2.5 feet from the aft wall. At the bottom of the tank the forward and aft walls are on...

Re: Effective Fuel
Nick, Perhaps James Power can add something to this conversation. We have not experienced the problems described, possibly because I have never let the fuel get below a 1/4 of a tank. I am thinking you may have one of a couple possible problems. Could be the sending unit, the gauge or the fuel picku...

Re: Effective Fuel
When it comes to fuel, I have found hen filling the tanks to the point where there is some back flow in the fill tubes, there is actually room for more fuel in the tanks. I have used a gas can to put about 8-9 more gallons total in the two tanks. A word of caution though, one time there was a tiny l...

Duane,
Mine does the same thing and I wind up checking it about 3 times to get comfortable. I may try just using the high side if that has worked for you.

Re: Water in Fuel Sensor
About 3 years ago we had a bad sensor on the bottom of the Yanmar filter mounted to the port engine. It would alarm intermittently, usually at cruise speed. There was no water in the racor and no water in the Yanmar filter. I replaced the sensor and that cured the problem.

Re: 3/4 Forespar thru hull valves
I called Forespar about my leaky valve addressed in my last post (not the same issue as Dick). Forespar was very helpful. One of my engine raw water through hull valves was leaking from the handle area when fully opened. Partially and fully shut it would stop. It is a 1" valve. They sent me fiv...

Bob,
We have a 2006 that take 3.5 turns lock to lock. We do not find the steering difficult but then I have never driven on with the 5 turns lock to lock. Thanks for updating us.

Re: 3/4 Forespar thru hull valves
Dick,
Do you happen to know the part number for our engine raw water valves? One of mine dribbles if I open it completely so I am planning to rebuild it or replace if necessary.
Thanks,
Alan

Re: 75 HP SYNTHETIC OIL SUGGESTIONS
I agree with Terry, as long as they are 100% synthetic, they are all good. I use Mobil 1 in the cars but I don't think they make a 15W-40 diesel oil. They make 5W-40 which will not hurt the engines. The 5 is just a 5 weight equivalent when started in a very cold environment. The main reason I don't ...

Re: Oil type for the 100 hp engines
Regarding the dipstick level, I am no expert but here is what I have been told. When the engine runs it creates a little vacuum in the oil reservoir that pulls the oil out of the dipstick tube. When you remove the dipstick, or just pull it out an inch or so, it breaks the seal and allows the oil to ...
