Re: Rub rails and stripes
How do you get that stuff on straight? I had the hardest time getting it on, just barely adequete. Up close, it looks OK, but when you stand back...ooy. So I live with it. It's harder to take off, than put on. Marc By the way, I did discover a good way to remove the old stripe. A rubber wheel, made ...

Re: Outboard Lower Unit Removal
My method may be hard to explain, but I'll try. First I remove the nuts, and replace them with barrel nuts. I think that's what they're called. They're long nuts. I thread them on to within 1/8" of being tight. Then put a C-clamp over the top of the flange, and the bottom of the nut. When you t...

Re: Holdling Tank Question
Hi...we are new owners of a 2005 PDQ and are having a problem with the holding tank. With only VERY minimal use (3-4 times) the tank shows full. When we turn on the macerator to pump out [off shore ] it runs for about 1 minute and the breaker shuts off. I'm not real sure about the position of the v...

Amytom, Hi. You may have some difficulty getting all the way to the top because of the way your static line is tied to the halyard. Too many knots may not let you slide the ascenders high enough. There is a way of shortening the line that supports the seat, but I don't know if that will get you high...

Rigging a static line for a Topclimber can be a problem at first. You must have a line with a free end on it (no shackle or spliced eye). This is needed to slip the ascenders onto the rope. When I first got mine, I tied a spare line to a halyard, and hauled that to the top of the mast. After that fi...

Hi Dan, personally, I don't like relying on anyone pulling me up the mast. About 8 years ago I bought a TopClimber at the Miami Boat Show, and I've been climbing up the mast myself ever since. I've made as many as 7 trips up and down in 1 day for various reasons, without needing someone to stand by....

When I was trying to isolate the problem, the macerator pump always worked when I routed a temporary hose directly over the side, rather than to the thru-hull. After trying everything I could think of, I finally routed the oulet hose straight out the side of the hull, above the waterline, and under ...

Hi Chet, What made you decide to change them? I have 4- 6V gels that are now 10 years old and seem to be going strong. I use them for starting and house. I have a dedicated 12V gel for my genset. I think the main reason they are lasting this long is that I have cold plate refrigeration, which only n...
