I actually bought a Sealand diaphram pump, but after re-routing the discharge above the waterline, the old macerater pump worked fine. So I returned it, and saved myself $245. Hopefully the old pump will last a little while,

Well I tried the vented loop, and it didn't help. I then hooked up a temporary hose to see if it would pump over the side , and it did. After filling the tank 3 times (with water) It still worked. So, I re-routed the discharge hose to exit about 16" above the waterline & under the bridgedec...

Hi Sam, Are you missing a vented loop also? I've been having the same syptoms as you for 10 years. I hope installing the loop solves it, otherwise I'm not sure what to do. I'll post my results this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed.

I have a macerator pump that pumps from the tank to the thru hull. After all these years I realized that there is no vented loop between the pump and the thru hull. I think this would cause a siphoning affect that might hamper the flow from the pump. If this is true, then my problem was never with t...

Holding tank pumpout

I wonder if anyone else has had as much trouble as me with emptying the holding tank offshore. 2-3 pumpouts, then change the impeller. I think, after 10 years, I figured out what's wrong. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.

TANAH-KEETA
Your idea of using a 15lb mushroom as a kellet is very interesting. How far from your CQR is it? Is it tied to the rode, or is it lowered after the anchor is set with a snatch block and a seperate line?

Hi Sandy, How did you empty the tanks to clean them? What did you do with the old gas?

Ethanol

Hi, Has anyone experienced any problems with ethanol gas. The many articles are confusing. They say not to mix ethanol with regular gas, but how can you not? I still have a half tank of regular non-ethanol. Should I just add ethalon gas to it? Not sure what to do.

I have a Kohler 6.5 kw genset in the rear of the port aft cabin. It is mounted in a factory built enclosure about 16"-18" above the berth. Theoretically(?) the berth was usable, but we removed the mattress, and use the cabin for storage. The genset weighs 200#. The boat is a 1993, I own it...

Hi Bob, I would be interested. I've owned PDQ 36021, Here's 2 Life, for 10 years. I have a 25ton masters licsence. Took my last boat to Bermuda, crewed for 2 deliveries to the BVI. Somewhat older now, but still capable(don't ask my wife that one). Presently docked in Atlantic City, NJ. You can reach...

Steps

Hi Sam, You're right, the early steps were screw-ons, but later they were molded right in. When I called PDQ about the screw-ons, I thought they were way overpriced, so I made my own. Turned out great, and they look like they're molded in. I also raised my lower step on the transom, similar to the n...

Hi, Hull #36021, Here's 2 Life, is resting comfortably in her slip in Atlantic City, NJ. You may be thinking of 1 Cool Cat, from Nova Scotia, that was recently lost at sea.

Michele & Al. Horrible news. We hope you are both OK. I can't imagine what you went through. I remember you both being resiliant and optimistic type people, so I know you'll bounce back. If we can help in any way please don't hesitate. Best of luck, Zahava & Marc Gershel, Here's 2 Life 36021
