Rich, I replaced most of the pins with cut-off drill bit stock also. The pins are the "achilles heel" of the older units. I did what you did eventually, and bought the new one. Sold the old one for $200 at a marine flea market. Good ridance.

If this is the older ST4000, there is an adjustment that you can do to increase tension on the belt. If I remember correctly, the belt passes around 2 rollers, that rotate on "off-center" cams. If you loosen the screw that holds the roller, you can then adjust the tension by rotating the r...

Just curious, Does the Honda 9.9 have the same 3:1 gear reduction & large prop that makes the Yamaha 9.9 such a good fit.
I picked up a '03 Yamaha with 10 hrs. on Ebay for $1600 as "insurance"
for when I have to replace my old (1800 hr) ones.

Hi Alex, We have an electric Lavac on our '93 boat that came with it when we bought it in '97. It has been the most trouble free piece of equipment on board. The installation seems to have been designed by PDQ, rather than the Lavac suggested installation. Most of the plumbing is with standard parts...

Hi, Did you get a spec. book with your boat? If so, it should be in there. I don't think we all have the same light fixtures.

2004 Yamaha

Hi, Just picked up a 2004 Yamaha on Ebay. Does anyone know if this is the same overall dimensions as the older units. I know the new ones are too big to fit. Hope I wasn't quick on the draw, but I couldn't resist.

Thanks for the help folks. Everything is working fine . Relatively easy solution, with a lot of hard work thrown in. It seems that the thermostat was the culprit. but instead of trying that first (makes too much sense) I pulled the engine, dropped the lower unit, and changed the water pump impeller. ...

Thanks Chet, I'll check all those things. Do you know what part it is that shuts the engine down when there is overheating? I'd like to check that also.

Thanks again, Hope all is well.

Overheating

Hi Everyone, Well, I just started my engines for the first time since putting everything up for the winter. They both started up nicely and sounded good. My stbd. didn't have a good flow from the p-hole, so I tried to clear it with a wire that I have for that purpose. It helped slightly. Pretty soon...

I think it was 14.2, but I'll check next time I get to the boat. It's been
8 1/2 years since I set it.

Hi, I've had the same Gelcells since i bought my boat in 1997. I have 4- 6volt that are charged through my iverter. I set the proper charging voltage on the inverter, and since then I have't had to do anything. I have a genset & AC cold plate cold refr, so the batts. never really get low. I also...

Hi, had the same problem a few years a few years ago. It took 2-3 calls for them to finally solve it. Here are 2 things worth trying. First, try raising the water temp adjustment slightly, the other is to press the restart button. Sounds basic, but they failed to mention these until the last call. M...
