Re: A new mainsail for a 32 - questions

Thanks to all for the notes. I am meeting with my sailmaker here in Chicago on Monday, and we are going to talk about all the alternatives, and I'll be glad to report back here. There may be economies in using my existing sailmaker again, as he can use existing battslides and probably also the exist...

Great. What type of sailcloth? And would you be willing to share the price paid?

Re: A new mainsail for a 32 - questions

2. I went with a mylar sail for performance on the Anne Z, even though UK recommended dacron. I should have listened to UK. The mylar sails are very stiff and really need to be carefully rolled after each sail or they'll get creases, etc. That's fine for the racing guys, but I'm too lazy for that. ...

A new mainsail for a 32 - questions

The mainsail on Phenix is 12 years old, and ready to be replaced. I have the original, non-fractional rig. I have a sailmaker here in Chicago that made the mainsail I have now, and I'm inclined to use him again, but he is increasingly difficult to get the attention of, because he is busy. So I am op...

I like the clean layout of the site. Yes, I second Sam's recommendation.

For your links, Phenix has a website too. I am 32007 - http://www.PhenixSailing.com

Re: Spark plug / strainer / drain plug wrench - I need one

Not exactly. The ones I had were just the piece that looks like the left side of the pic, but had a couple of holes in it that you could insert a screwdriver to get leverage to turn it. With that tool, are you able to change the plugs and oil strainer with the engines in the well?

Spark plug / strainer / drain plug wrench - I need one

My Yamaha 9.9s came with a "wrench" that was sized on one end to remove the spark plugs and on the other end to remove the drain plug and strainer. I have lost mine somehow and I'd really like to get a replacement. Does anyone know where I can get this, or anyone have an extra one I can bu...

Repairs completed to this PDQ Forum

Sam and I have worked hard this weekend on moving this PDQ Forum to a new server, and converting it to a new version of forum software. This move some problems, cleaned things up and we've got it running (we think!). You might not notice any difference, so in a way, that is a good thing, that means ...

Re: Self-tacking jib attachment failure

I've broke two drill bits and screw extractor trying to get the broken piece out.

Did all the 32s come from the factory like this?

I would think a better solution would be to get a proper car for this to attach to, but I can't seem to find one from Harken that fits the bill.

Self-tacking jib attachment failure

Friend borrowed the boat yesterday and it came back with the attachment of the jib sheet on the far port side of the jib traveler pulled out of the shackle. Not sure exactly how it happened, but I have a guess. Anyway, I think Phenix's rigging is different than other PDQ 32s, as what I have (had) do...

Re: Battery combiner to replace Xantrex

Sam, my situation is simpler. I have two batteries ... #1 I try and use for starting both engines only (Yamaha outboards) #2 I try and use for house only I have only two charging sources, the engines and shore power. So what I do no is turn the 1-2-BOTH switch to "1", start the engines, th...

Re: Broken clutch handle for main halyard

Thanks.

I ordered the new handle here:

http://www.apsltd.com/c-1197-spinlockcl ... parts.aspx
SPSA16 - XA Replacement Handle - Price: $13.60

I ordered a couple of them, so I'll replace the Main Halyard and Spinnaker Halyard handles together, so they look the same.
