hi,

we allocate money for maintenance including some money for the things that always break, haulouts, bottom paint, winterization if applicable, summer dockage, dockage for trips (if any).

not exhaustive, but some things to think about.

is it both burners or just one?

ours would light but not stay lit. turned out to be a melted knob. bottom was deformed and not flat. i filed flat until we got new ones.

other thing, is that in cold weather it takes longer to light.

good luck.

hi,

seals are water cooled from engine exhaust. not sure how high they need to spin before they overheat. also, not sure in gear locks shaft (i.e. what kind of clutch is it?).

probably chris calvert questions.

hi, spade sizing (i.e. 100) relates to the physical dimensions, NOT the weight. both our 45# steel and 22# aluminium were spade 100's. spade does not recommend the aluminium version for large cats because shank can bend due to windage. i assume pdq is talking 45# steel spade 100. john cummings duett...

hi, we're cruising icw in mv34. we're using 45# steel spade now. so far it has worked wherever we've anchored and we anchor a lot. mostly sand and mud with REALLY strong currents. when we bought boat, we used 35# delta on trip north. also good results. on our gemini cat we used 22# aluminium spade. ...

hi,

from a economical operation and handling perspective, i can't think of a better choice in this size range.

where will you be using it and how will you use it?

yes, i know yanmars position. it's a raging debate in boating community on where is the best place to stop the tiny grud (i.e. at racor or at the filter on the engine).
