Secret Starboard Cable Chase
Ok, I give up. I can't find the elusive cable chase mentioned in several other posts that is supposed to live just above the steps on the starboard side. I've looked from inside the factory inverter mounting area as well as from under the sink in the head, but to no avail. Short of pulling out the e...

?How Many?
Can anyone tell me how many of the 32/34 motor cats were (are) made? On a recent delivery from Florida to Maryland, I counted no less than 16 PDQ 34 MV's on the way up the ditch, so I was wondering how many there are out and about.
Thanks,
Tom

Re: runaway trim
Sandy, With the pin unplugged were you able to adjust the trim via the integrated switch on the front of the engine? If so I'd say you are looking at a bad switch in the binnacle or possibly a smashed electric line between the binnacle and the engine. Of course this is assuming your engines are like...

Re: Refrigeration
Phil, I almost bought the next size up in the freezer line, but Amy talked me out of it. She doesn't read this forum, so I can say it, she was right and I was wrong. It's easy to fill up the freezer here in the states before crossing over, but once we're down island for a few months and I have eaten...

Re: Refrigeration
Phil, Ours is just sort of free standing in the port side aft cabin right next to the small hutch where our three weasels sleep for the night. We looked at the cover they offered and I think it was like a $100 extra, so we passed. I made an insulated cover for ours that we used for the first season,...

Wow, thats pretty scary looking. I've never seen that before. Sorry I have nothing useful to say about treating it, but please keep the forum updated as to what you find out.

Re: Refrigeration
Sam, We replaced Dream Catchers factory Adler Barbour compressor with a new BD35 Dan Foss compressor, kept the existing factory evaporator plate in the fridge and went from using 6 amps while running to 3. Of course run time depends on the coolness setting, but the efficiency is much, much better. W...

Re: PDQ36 sail-to-motoryacht conversion
How about skipping the fly bridge, staying with gas, and going with 15 - 25 hp Honda 4's? My bar room napkin calculations show almost 600 lbs weight reduction coupled with a 100+ % hp increase should get you at least 9 knots of boat speed at less than 4 gallons per hour combined. I have often wonder...

Yeah, even when they're smashed into jelly fish paste inside the strainer they still sting. Ouch.

Jellyfish in my AC Intake
All, Now that I am tied up to the dock again and the weather is heating up, we have recommissioned both of our air conditioners. The problem I am having is that at least once a day, one unit or the other has the thermal cut-out kick in and shut the unit down after the raw water pump sucks in a jelly...

Re: Raymarine ST4000+ Auto pilot
FWIW - I got two of the substitute belts from New Jersey and put one on for my recent run from Stuart, FL to Oriental, NC and had no trouble with it at all. The autopilot was engaged for 98% of the trip and never missed a beat.

Re: Larger Batteries
For what it's worth, we managed to squeeze 6 Trojan T-105's into the stock battery box under the starboard side salon settee with no modifications. Prior to that we had a single 8D AGM in the same physical space also with no issues. We did away with the two separate Group 27's that lived in the cock...

Re: Lubrication of Morse control cables
I have tried everything under the sun to keep up with these cables, but unless we disassemble and remove them twice a year, they invariably end up freezing and breaking. I have gone to the "higher" grade cable in the West Marine catalog and while they seem to prolong the imminent cable dem...

Re: Seat Back Velcro
Sorry, I should have elaborated more. I made new cushions and have already sewn 2" adhesive backed velcro to them. It took almost two days to remove the old velcro from the settee area, but now it is clean and ready for the new stuff. The sticky back on the velcro will hold it in place, but I d...
