I bought a little 110 V pump that connects with a garden hose. I am able to hold the intake hose to get everything but the last 1/4 inch or so out. It's handy for getting the water out of the bilges and the flotation compartments as well.

Re: “Bunking a PDQ Altar supported only by supports under the Br
I don't think you will have a problem. It is important to avoid stress concentration at the support points. You should use full width supports at the front and rear of the bridge deck. I also have a rubber pad on the top of the planks that span between my stand support points.

Re: “Bunking a PDQ Altar supported only by supports under the Br
Yes you can support under the bridge deck only but you should only do this for short term needs. I have had my boat carried on a trailer supported under the bridge deck only. I have also worked on the keels in this way however I always block under the keels for long term storage.

Re: Opening salon hatches
I looked at my set up today. It is no different than what is shown in the photos except that the blocks are located to the mast base plate using the holes farthest aft. Seems to work fine and does not interfere with hatch.

My hatches are forward of the lines so there is no conflict.

Re: Too fast to lower engines?
As long as they drop far enough to be able to draw cooling water you can start the engines. Once you put them in gear and bring up the revs they will lock. Of course if you are sailing at speeds greater than the motors can manage this won't work. Under six knots you should be ok.

Re: Speed Polar Plot for PDQ 32
I just have the regular self tacking jib however my numbers are consistent with those on the plot. I made a point of verifying my speeds with a GPS since they seemed to be better than what others were reporting. I do have the tall mast.

Re: Speed Polar Plot for PDQ 32
Well Done! I found your numbers to be fairly consistent with my own experience. When shopping for my boat I was disappointed with the information I found on the internet that suggested rather modest performance expectations. Once I spent some time with the boat I was happy to find that my experience...

Re: Water Coming in the Shower Drain
The problem comes from waves hitting in the exit port area. I solved the problem by adding a bit of hose so the drain water gets pumped high in the forepeak and then back down to the exit port. This way water coming back into the drain port must go up before it can run down the hose. I have not had ...

Adjustment should not be required as the amount of stretch that would occur over the short length of the cable will have been taken up in the original setting.

Yes the lexan expands when in direct sun. Our door sticks when hot but a full turn on the latch and a firm tug will get it open. You might just want to file off the tip of the latch.

I don't know the sail area of my main. The Multihull Maven web site lists it as 331 square feet.
( checked my manual today - it confirms 331 sq. ft.)

Re: Performance Difference-Classic vs. Altair
I can't comment on the original mast height performance as I have not sailed a boat with the shorter mast however I have found that the sailing speeds I have experienced are generally better than what I was lead to expect based on comments I read on line. I have not changed anything other than the o...
