Re: T9.9 lower end removal questions

Magic Time, I have posted on this a long time ago. Do not pound on the cavitation plate. It will break. It is likely the driveshaft splines are stuck in the powerhead. My only success in this was to construct a crude but effective puller. It consists of two 4 X4 wood pieces hollowed out to match the...

Re: exhaust elbow

Roger to the Rescue, We were motoring down the ICW South of Cape Fear when we came across Roger & Mary prepping "Teamwork" for their annual trek to the Bahamas. I described our Exhaust leak to Roger and Voila, he came up with a used elbow from his boat. I installed it last night after ...

Re: exhaust elbow

Thanks Ron,Mary,Roger I tried an epoxy stick with no luck. I think the elbow gets too hot for the epoxy. It appears the leak is at the weld between the pipe from the turbo-charger and the larger exhaust pipe over which the hose fits. I am just letting it leak for now until we get the boat to Florida...

Re: exhaust elbow

My starboard engine exhaust elbow is leaking water all over the motor mount and transmission. Total time is only 1250hrs. Where can I get a replacement that will last? Help please. On the move South to Florida now in Oriental, NC.

Re: Reading Light Replacements

I replaced mine with Dr LED G4MR11 (1W MK II 12V) PN 8001238. They are a direct replacement with no modifications and give a nice warm reading light, remain cool, and have a 50,000hr life. Made in USA. Not cheap (Around $25. ea). Get them on internet or WestMarine

Re: Challenge : From beginner to fulltime liveaboards.

Dominique, My two cents worth says try a "partial" move aboard before commiting to full time. Many Canadian cruisers put their boats on the hard for the Summer months in a Florida boatyard and then move aboard in the Fall to spend the Winter in the Bahamas returning in May before the hurri...

Re: Anyone installed a boarding ramp?

Check out the Solvit deluxe telescoping ramp for pets. A fellow boater used one on his boat and it was strong enough for adults and stowed easily.

Re: Anchor chain hook suggestions

I just added two wraps of 3M RUBBER electical tape to my 316SS chain hook. It now no longer falls off the 5/16 ht chain. Not sure how long this fix will last but works great for now.

Re: Anyone have PDQ 36 Sail Plan with Measurements?

You might Triton Sails (www.tritonsails.com ) They were the supplier for all the early 36 sailboats and supplied replacement sails for my boat about 5 years ago.

Shallow Water Depth Info

I have the Raymarine E120 with Dm300 depth module. The depth readout quits at 4.3 ft. I installed a P79 transducer and tried plugging it into the Dm300. Same problem. I would really like to be able to read shallow depths as I live in a canal community with very shallow entry channel. Is there some s...

Re: MV 34 - 4 blade props

Installed the new four blade props this week. Initial results are good. WOT gives 3850 RPM (100HP) and 19.9Kts. Cruising speeds are about .5 Kts higher (at the same RPM) and they seem smoother (subjective). Replaced the cutlass bearings also. They are model BITE. Cut the fiberglass housing back abou...

Cutlass Bearing Replacement

I am having props replaced on hull 96 and want to change the cutlass bearings at the same time. Does anyone have the specs on sizing and how does one remove them without pulling the shafts? I have noticed at the higher RPM's (3000), the aft part shaft "whips" around causing the tides marin...

Re: Crack in upper casing

Hey Evan,

I agree with Duetto. The crack should not cause any problem other than exhaust gas escaping. The JB Weld sounds like a good fix if you can get it to stick.

Re: MV 34 - 4 blade props

Finally received the new 4 blade props for the 100HP Yanmars from H&H. They are 17R/L Brz Dqx 1-1/4" four blade props from Michigan Wheel. It took 11weeks from ordering! Total cost including frt & tax was $1712.91.
