Check inside of the fiberglass crossbeam where the trampoline attaches. There should be access ports in each of the forward lockers. There have been leaks through the attachment rail of the trampoline.

Thanks Sam. I believe that we met Warren several years ago in the local multihulls club. The boat was previously "Brigadoon" owned by the Hendersons.

A compression test may be in order. Since Diesels are oil burners there may not be any blue smoke. In addition to the leaks Duane mentioned, the other possibilities are worn valve seals and/or piston rings.

I would consider locking the shaft with vice grips rather than chance expensive damage. We're only talking about a temporary situation here, in limp home mode.

Have you consider going electric and using an induction unit. You will need steel cookware if you do, but I have found ours to be extremely easy to use.
