Re: whale plumbing fitting?

steve,

i forgot to mention that we have an isotemp water heater, not the oem from pdq, so our pressure relief valve probably isn't the same.

whale plumbing fitting?

hi all,

we need to replace our pressure release valve on our hot water heater and the faucets in our galley. i will need to disconnect the whale plumbing connects on each.

so, what is the trick to disconnect them?

shaft support question

hi all, this is probably intended mostly for simon, if he still logs into the forum. did you ever consider adding a second cutlass bearing at the frontend of the stern tube? if so, why didn't you implement it? if not, what are your thoughts on it? i've been talking to tides marine about seal failure...

Re: RPM Loss on Port Engine

hi bill, glad you solved your problem. something to think about. if you're using 30 micron racors you may want to think about changing the on engine yanmar filters. the fact that the filters were blocking flow that badly would make me think a lot of particles were getting to the yanmars. if you're u...

Re: Pathmaker battery combiner additional

hi, i've been thru this 3 times on our boat (2003 - 34). seems to be fixed by finally switching to the 250A combiner. you don't mention which combiner you have, so i'll assume the 250A version. if that's true, it's the first 250A failure i've heard about. i've been researching combiners for another ...

Re: RPM Loss on Port Engine

ron, i'm willing to bet that you too have the "invisible" heat exchanger problem. take them to a radiator shop and i think your temps will return to the 185-190 range. if you do it and they don't, i'll pay for a round at boat harbour :) i'll be interested to see if prop work makes any diff...

Re: RPM Loss on Port Engine

hi bill, you didn't mention changing the yanmar on engine filter. probably should do this just to be sure, but probably not the problem since both engines draw from the same tank. also, pull the fuel pickups in the tank and make sure you don't have the screens on the pickups. i think this was a prob...

Re: Raising & Lowering the Dink

ross, 2 things: 1) i can send you a picture of "beach magic's" winch setup if you want to give me an email address 2) have you thought about lowering the pickup point in the dinghy to offset the extra length caused by the new blocks? we did this. st croix davits sells a bracket that mounts...

Re: Raising & Lowering the Dink

hi ross, from your note, i'm not sure why it won't go higher. i assume you have the stock new design pdq davits. we have the exact same rib/motor on duetto and motor easily clears the steps, but we have st croix davits and 2 people pulling. i believe bill beach ("beach magic") has a winch ...

we have one in our bunk that we run constantly at night and after 5 years of living on the boat no problems. let's hope it stays that way.
