hi gus,
couple of reactions:
1) insurance sounds low.
2) you don't mention dockage/storage other than transient
3) i'd have a bucket for repairs/upgrades
4) 150 nm of travel will go by awfully quick if you take many cruises

Re: Rust in condensation pan
hi larry, welcome aboard! i would suggest contacting manufacturer (cruiseair?...not near boat) and see if you can get the ss version of the pan. i did it about 5 years ago. pan is/was about $100. after you remove the unit, you can just grind off rivets, carefully lift out everything as one piece (it...

Re: Battery Draw
hi jon, if you really want to understand how charge/discharge works, i would recommend a book "living on 12v". don't remember the author but it's the guy who started ample power. they invented echo charger, freedom chargers, etc. it explains charging and usage in great detail but it's read...

Re: Battery Draw
hi john, we measure the battery draw with a meter. we know over the years that we consume about 120-150 ah a day. we have an additional engle cooler 1.5 ah draw. so you can see that you get to eric & ron's numbers pretty quickly. also, most articles reco recharging to get to float phase about ev...

Re: E80 display
hi tom, i did this research earlier in the year for our own rl70c. i think that you have 4 ways to go: 1) go on ebay or other swap shop and find an e80 new or used 2) get new raymarine chartplotter and use raymarine's bridge between their new network and old 3) go nema 0183/2000 with either raymarin...

Re: Battery combiner to replace Xantrex
hi,
i think the combiner would go between the 2 batteries and the 1-2-both will normally be in the OFF position. if you leave it anywhere else you run the risk of a) accidental discharge or b) only charging one battery. the switch is only for emergencies. normally combiner eliminates the need for it.

hi mark,
do you have 75s or 100s? i haven't seen any good data on the difference between 3 and 4 blades on the 75s.

Re: Dirty Sunsure Curtains
remember my point of reference is a 2003. with that said, i believe the problem comes from the 2 drains from the fly-bridge located in the corners of the drop down foot-well. depending on how hard it's raining (or hosing) the water shoots out different distances and therefore makes designing a catch...

Re: Dirty Sunsure Curtains
hi mark,
welcome to the club! we've had the exact same problem for 8 years now. i've tried making gutters but never got them quite right. we've just resigned ourselves to washing after rainstorms. btw, it's worse in the states than bahamas so i guess dirt in the air is a factor.

Re: PDQ: Florida Cruising Thoughts and Input Please!
hi craig, 3 weeks will fly by. fl is one long state N-S. i agree with sam, try and layout a set of routes. assume that you'll cruise at 13-15 knots. you could easily spend the better part of a week just exploring miami/key biscayne. st augustine is a couple of days. sanibel/captiva/ft myers beach is...

hi,
really depends on how much you want to overhang the stern steps. 9'6" AB has no overhang. see notes above.

Re: Newbies seeking Guidance
if i'm not mistaken, the early boats didn't have the zf transmissions. i also don't think that they had the kobelt shifters. my guess is that the early boats had an electric remote control shift mechanism.

Re: swapping out a bow roller?
hi nocall,
what is the problem with the spade? we used one on our 2003 for 6 years before switching and never had a problem. now i'm not sure the roller bracket wasn't changed between 2003 and 2005. james power maybe able to comment on whether we have the same assembly.
