shades
We have the 65% stuff for the three windshield exterior panels. We find it very satisfactory. Each panel has a separate shade, fastened with four snap fasteners. I think they were about $200. The shade does not interfere with opening the center panel. Inside, to port and starboard, we have a horizon...

Prosine 2.0
Our boat (hull #33) was delivered in Oct 2003. We had to replace our Prosine 2.0 after 2.5 years (factory warranty is 2 years). It completely quit after an increasing set of error messages. I found that Xantrex does not repair the units. If in warranty, they simply send you a new one. If beyond the ...

Re: Pressure testing: I forgot to mention--- When you test for leaks, as described previously, the solenoid should be ON. This way, the line all the way from the bottles to the stove will be under pressure, and leaks should be reflected by falling pressure readings. With the solenoid OFF, only that ...

On our boat, and probably on all the MV34s, the solenoid is in the propane locker under the curved built-in seat on the port side next to the flybridge helm station. It is only a couple inches in size, and has threaded fittings connecting it with the gas lines fom the regulator and to the stove. And...

Alternators
You might want to check this out - from a friend of mine: "Company is http://www.hehrpowersystems.com . Googling "powerline alternators" gives that and other potentially interesting discussions of alternator upgrades. Pulling 150 amps requires a double belt, or 8 groove pulley. I assu...

I don't know what is standard now, but when we bought in 2003, 60 amp alternators were standard. I had the Yanmar rep in Whitby upgrade ours to 80 amp. We have a 650 amp-hour golfcart battery house bank, and I thought the 60 amp charging sounded marginal. The 80s were the highest available thru Yanm...

bilge pump
I carry a manual Whale diaphram pump mounted on a plank, and equipped with an intake hose long enough to reach the bottom of the bow lockers. The thought is that the bow lockers are the most likely place for water in an emergency. Also, hoses that long would suffice for just about anywhere on the bo...

Transmission Cable fittings
You might want to check with the factory on this. They sent me, unsolicited, a retrofit for the transmission shift cable ends. The original was a ball joint fitting, the replacement was a fork with pin. Don't recall whether the pin was secured with a cotter pin or with a machine screw/washer/nut. I ...

Check out http://www.yachtworld.com. Last time I looked, there were seven PDQ MV 34s listed.
