Re: Fridge on a 32

After several e-mails with Chris Calver of PDQ (actually Antares now) He told me that while PDQ did put the propane units on the old boats he felt that it would not be legal (insurance reasons) nor safe due to the propane being left on at all times instead of turning off when not cooking or showerin...

Fridge on a 32

Looking into putting a new fridge on our 32 hull #9 The PO put in a inexpesive dorm fridge which does work off the inverter but drains the batteries. I'm considering the Dometic RV line with Propane/110V/12V options. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Any specific model numbers?

Re: Jiffy Reefing questions

Mine has stainless eyelets mounted to the boom. Think I'll just add the grommets to the new sail cover so the lines can pass to the eyelets through the cover. Off topic- anyone here been to Anguilla? I'm on the island right now. This place would be perfect for taking a break from the US. The economy...

Marc, Thought about that. I figure I could make the bowlines as small as possible and just stand at the top. (holding on for dear life of course!) I think my biggest hurdle is the courage thing. I don't even ride on rollercoasters. In the Navy I did fairly well working on the mast mounted radars; bu...

I have fittings installed on the bottom intake with hoses run to the top of the engine pod. Everytime I use the boat I hook up a garden hose and run the engine for a minute or two with it tilted up. I then spray the engine off with the hose. I'm new to the PDQ but with every other boat I've always f...

I have the TopClimber and can use it to climb without anyone else around. Just tie strings to all the tools I'll need and pull them up when I need them. I even installed the radar in a stiff breeze by myself. I am afraid of higths as well so I have to have complete control and the TopClimber allows ...

Sorry for the double post. Typing on the Blackberry while driving...

Also, where do the rear lines tie off at on the boom? back near the topping lift or straight down from each reefing point and on the side of the boom?

Sam. I was hoping yours was right as that would be easiest. If you change yours then I'll loose my excuse to go the easy route. :)

Looks like Sailrite it is.
Nice when you see a product that is universally accepted as the best and worth it. Hopefully the savings from DIY will offset the cost of the unit plus some.

Jiffy Reefing questions

Had concerns about my jiffy reefing as the reefing lines were very stiff to pull through the grommets on the sail. Also looking into making our own "Stack Pack" type sail cover and was curious about the exit slits for the reefing lines. Talked to Sam and learned that his reefing lines came...
