Re: wiper arms?
We just had to have one of our wiper motors replaced. The new one came with a wiper arm. I'll check on the brand/model and get back to you.

Re: How to lubricate handle on water filter
No pain, no gain... right, Duane? I actually removed all of our galley gear from that cabinet and crawled into it yesterday to disassemble the water filter. I'm 6'1" and fit in there well enough - I could sit upright inside it! I had soaked our water tank and water lines in a vinegar solution f...

How to lubricate handle on water filter
The bypass valve handle on our Shurflo water filter is extremely difficult to turn. Has anyone found a way to lubricate this valve?

Re: Fresh Water water flow PDQ 34
John, Could you please clarify exactly what you did by "removed the filter head and dissasembed the unit and it was full of the calcium crud. We thoroughly cleaned the filter head and re-installed." I'm also dealing with some clogging issues in my water lines. I've cleaned out my water tan...

Re: How to change engine coolant water
Also, there are 4 drain valves on the Yanmar 100 HP 4JH3-HTE engines: 1) one behind the oil filter (the primary drain); 2) under the exhaust elbow: 3) under the turbo charger unit; and 4) in front under the water pump.

Re: How to change engine coolant water
Very helpful. I found the 4 drain valves by getting a little coaching from our local diesel experts. The Yanmar manual was useless -- the pictures for the valves are so small they are not legible. I drained the Starboard engine first because it has the long hoses that feed hot coolant to the heater ...

How to change engine coolant water
Can anyone provide some guidance on changing the anti-freeze engine coolant water? I need to do this and I have not been able yet to determine where the lowest drain outlet is on the engines.

Re: Propeller Shaft Size
When we had both shafts pulled and sent out to be straightened a month ago, our invoice from "The Prop Shop" in Seattle says they are 1.25 inch diameter. ("2 EA 1-1/4 X 66-3/8 OAL - 4" BW SPLIT COUPLER")

Interesting. Thanks. I will look at it.
Your picture reminded me of a question I have.. how many of you have your bilge pump GLUED vs. SCREWED to the floor in the back of the bilge area behind the engines? Mine were glued and both had broken loose. Our maintenance guy screwed one down.

Wow! Scary story, Dick. Glad it turned out OK for you. Any clue as to how or why the heat exchanger hose came loose?

Re: Berth Reading lights
We replaced the halogen lights with LED lights 2 years ago. It is a real improvement. The issue we have is the goose necks are slowly failing. They have been bent and re-bent a lot. A couple of them are almost falling off the base that screws to the wall. So, we bought some really nice, smaller and ...

Re: Big performance improvement
Thanks, Duane! The money spent this round was well spent. I have no regrets at all. It's improvements like this that make me (and my wife) feel a LOT more confident about the boat... We feel it's worth it since I maintain most aspects of the boat and especially since we have the boat in contract wit...

Re: Transmission Maintenance Schedule
Good to know, John. Thanks. I'm still "averaging" all the different points of view about the timing and whether or not to clean or replace the trans filter periodically. It's interesting that there such a range of views on this -- boaters, tech pros, and web chat forums such as <http://www...
