Re: Cabin and Head Door latches
Hey Mark, the aluminum door frames have a tendancy to shift around in the bulkhead. If the previous posts dont help, remounting the frames usually does the trick. James

Re: Foam core vs balsa core
Hey Thinwater, I wasnt very involved with hull and deck layups but if memory serves, the majority was foam core with the exception being some smaller parts and I have seen it at the ends of the bridgedeck where they curve up to meet the deck. ( it can take a curve easier then foam ). Since balsa cor...

Re: Proper way to purge air
Hey Phil, if the water tank is full and still spitting, it could be a leak on the suction side of the pump. Trace the supply line back to the tank checking all the fittings as you go. The plastic whale fittings need the tube pushed in a full 1 1/8 " to seal properly. The usual culprit is the el...

Re: Replacing Mast, Boom and Crosbeam on PDQ32
The blistering is common on painted masts, I have 2 spars that I am refinishing this winter. Its possible to sand blast the extrusions, prep and repaint them, depending on the severity of the corrosion. It usually looks worse then it is. If needed I have a length of the original sail track that was ...

Hey Terry, sounds like your on the right track, the wiring schematic may be different then your actual electrical set up. After finishing the Power Squadron courses in the mid 70's, I let my membership lapse but every time I do a running D.R. I think of the course. James

Re: Electrical Question
Hey Jimmy, as Stray Cat mentioned, check the shore power connections at the dock pedistal and the vessel inlet for signs of corossion / overheating. I have seen a lot of this on my last tour. This can lead to galvanic isolator, inverter and battery charger " hissy fits " and possibly a fir...

Re: Starting from House Batteries
Hey Terry, I was the "new guy" when your boat was built, 16 odd years ago. From what I can remember, as you say you can combine the two engine batteries for starting via switches. As far as combining the engine starts and the house bank, if it is possible there has to be cabling and a swit...

Re: Sewn-on composite hull fittings
Hey Thinwater, over the years I have seen the pad eyes fail due to incorrect installation angle as Sandy mentioned, and a backing plate system that could have been beefed up. The system that you saw in Multihulls Magazine looks very interesting, it distributes the load over both hull skins, and sinc...

Hey Ross, try to determin where the water came from, ie condenser condensation, deck or plumbing leak etc. The only entry points would be where the copper lines enter and exit the chase. How much water did you remove and was it fresh or salt ? James
