Any PDQ's in Central America?

We'd love to meet up with another PDQ in this part of the world. We have been on the Rio Dulce in Guatemala for two winters but haven't seen another PDQ since leaving Isla Mujeres. We plan to leave for Caye Caulker in Belize in a month or so. If you are in the neighborhood, let us know. The rum is o...

Re: Med Mooring

Tom: We have found that med moor is a pretty common deal in Mexico and Central America. The advantage to the marina is that they can cram more boats into a given amount of dock space. The advantage to the cruisers is .....well, there isn't one. except that a med moor is typically a little less expen...

Re: Sailing Music

Good to know, Sam. Bandwidth is sort of expensive down here but, as soon as we are back in Indiana in the summer, we'll certainly tune you in. It should give us the sailing fix we need when we're away from the boat. We do use Tune In on our Droids and like it a lot. All the best to you and Gina. Phi...

Re: "Buggy" Fuel Problem

Mike: Thanks for the update. I have been meaning to set up a "get home" tank similar to the three gallon tank you described on each engine. It could be very useful when the Racors get clogged and the sea conditions are too rough to make changing them them out practical. The extra tanks wou...

Re: "Buggy" Fuel Problem

Thinwater: Thanks for your very helpful post about fuel tank problems. You have convinced me to add a large additional secondary (tertiary?) filter to Sunshine's engines (diesels) if I can figure out a good location for them. It's pretty crowded in the starboard locker now, but I'll figure something...

Re: Door knobs for stateroom

Hi, Bill:

It's good to hear from the other Sunshine. Many thanks for the information. That's exactly what I needed. We have been boating long enough that I am numb to what "marine" stuff costs.

All the best,

Phil

Re: Door knobs for stateroom

James:

Exactly! If you can find one that will fit, color and style aren't that important.

Thanks so much for your help.

Door knobs for stateroom

Hi, All: Two of our stateroom door knobs have de-materialzed and need to be replaced. Actually, the little coil springs that move the latch have broken and I don't think they are stock items. Does anyone know of a source for the door knobs? My Internet research has revealed nothing for a door that i...

Not to bijack this thread, but where are you guys these days? We have made our way down to the Rio Dulce and plan to leave the boat here for the summer. Bring us up to date.

The folding prop is 15" X 9. I've decided to keep the fixed one -- just in case.

Re: SD20 Saildrive parts

Hey, Bob:

When we get back aboard, in a week or so, I'll check and let you know the pitch and size of both props. If it should slip my mind, please remind me.

I hope all is well with you.

SD20 Saildrive parts

I stumbled across this link to a parts diagram for the lower unit of the SD20 saildrive and thought it might be helpful to someone: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=3487&d=1210030280 It appears to be a page from the Yanmar shop manual and it includes part numbers. ...

Re: Yanmar Replacement Diesels

Thanks for the information, Fred. PO's are the scum of the earth, aren't they? I hope I never become one. Ha, ha. Please let us know what you find out about the motor mounts. Some day, I'll be facing the same issue. It would have been nice of Yanmar to keep the same footprint, wouldn't it? I haven't...
