Re: Hull - Dent Deflection Depression Dimple - and Fender Placement
I suspect those dimples and creases are not from fenders but rather docks. We had a crease fixed with bondo and painted and you couldn’t see a thing. Of course, next season I had current push me to the dock as I left near Hilton Head and presto, another small dimple. Sigh! Gonna live with this one, ...

Re: Shower Drain
This ended up being a super easy fix, but required a valve rebuild kit. Kit available overnight with Amazon.....but then you need to have a daughter willing to bring it in her suitcase to Bahamas haha!

Re: Forum Access
EPILOGUE: Not sure this is relevant to all, but I was unable to post anything to this forum over the past few months in the Bahamas. I could login and read it, but kept getting kicked off while trying to post. I had this experience both on local wifi and using an Aliv hotspot. Now back in the US and...

Re: Manual Black Water Pump
It’s a manual Whale Pump mounted under deck in front of starboard hatch. With only one moving part (beside flapper and joker valves) and no electric component it is very simple and normally very reliable. Thankfully access and repair was easy once you put me on the right track!

Spares
I searched for a recommended list of spares for our boats and didn’t see one so thought I’d start a thread and get everyone’s thoughts. Amazon with basically next day service has changed the dynamic for cruising in the US, but many of us take our boats outside the US and need to carry parts, but wha...

Forum Access
I have recently had some MAJOR issues accessing the forum from my iPad running the latest iOS software. Not sure this will even post. Has anyone else had issues? Any solution? Admin Sam Densler has been super responsive trying to help, but no solution. I’m feeling exposed over here in the Bahamas wi...

Re: Manual Black Water Pump
EPILOGUE: I took the pump apart (very simple and not gross!) and found some hard piece of crud stopping the joker valve from closing thereby limiting suction. Figure the crud somehow broke loose during rough passage (there have been a few this year in Bahamas). Anyway, cleaned it up and pumping stro...

Re: Manual Black Water Pump
Will try the water test first as you suggest. We’re at Staniel Cay right now and believe it or not found a random guy at some storage locker who had some muratic acid! Will update on result(s).

Re: Manual Black Water Pump
Thanks duetto for quick response. Well, I'm assuming the tank has stuff in it because we've been putting "stuff" in there (although never toilet paper). I turned the valve to pump out overboard as we left Florida and successfully pumped out (wasn't much) and then left that valve open assum...

Manual Black Water Pump
Seems the manual black water pump is a pretty easy principle. Mine has worked fine to date, but recently seems to have stopped pumping. I disconnected the black water hose to check incoming pressure and it seems to draw although not sure what “normal” is. I suppose next step is to disassemble the pu...

Wow! Great discovery. Works for me too. Thanks for figuring that out. The vagaries of technology!

Re: Dinghy Hoist
When I said “engine access” I was tongue in cheek referring to the boat yoga required to do much in our engine rooms. Accessing the dinghy outboard while hoisted is just as easy for me on starboard or port. We also have a small manual crane hoist on starboard side we can use to secure the motor, or ...

Re: Dinghy Hoist
Looking for things to do while waiting out winds in the Bahamas so tried swapping my dinghy around and hoisting with engine on port side as Mac suggests. I found it much more difficult, but then I’m REALLY left handed (and stuck in my ways haha) so I’m sticking with the outboard to starboard. Isn’t ...

Shower Drain
Have discovered my on board shower does not seem to be fully draining. Plenty of suction at pump, but drains slowly after 6 month layover. Detached exit tube from pump and blew through it. Felt like I blew a ball of crud out then air flowed freely, but still getting water backflow into shower after ...
